  1. Not directed at me, but aside from the Eden Cafe being a hidden gem and our go-to breakfast spot, we found the entire Eden area underwhelming. Horribly uncomfortable furniture (but it looks nice, so par for the course on X these days) and a space that doesn't seem to have an identity. Small bar area, spread out seating, and a peculiar upper level that seemed out of the way. During the day, I can see it as a true eden for the reader looking for a quiet indoor space. That's simply not us. And we tend towards outdoor spaces when sailing, so being inside down there in the evenings isn't all that appealing. And it's by far the best walking track on any X class ship!
  2. If Edge class was the only way to cruise to Alaska, I wouldn't go. IVs that can be locked out. No Sky Lounge or ANY forward facing public outdoor space with a panoramic view. An unrevolutionized S or M class would be far better
  3. When and how do these coupons arrive??
  4. Guessing zero unless it was as you stated, predatory. It's likely there to say that they have a rate to reference for percent-off, even though they don't actually offer it to customers.
  5. Care to show me how to find and book that on celebritycruises.com?
  6. The brochure rate is completely irrelevant unless as according to the FTC, that "price is one at which the product was openly and actively offered for sale, for a reasonably substantial period of time, in the recent, regular course of his business, honestly and in good faith" A percentage off a made-up reference price that has never actually been offered to customers is absolutely fraudulent. But everyone does it, and the FTC doesn't enforce their own rules.
  7. You only say that because you haven't seen "full price". Granted, Celebrity hasn't either. And can it be full price if nobody ever pays full price? I seem to recall some states having laws because furniture and appliance stores always had sales but never sold items at the alleged full price.
  8. I booked a cruise that I would have booked anyway. I bought a stock that I felt was a good investment for the purchase price. That stock happened to compliment the already booked cruise with some obc. Where did the supposed "extra" money come from?
  9. And if you cruise regularly with the same line it works out nicely. If you take 2 cruises per year, in < 5 years you have your CCL investment back for doing nothing different than you would do without the stock purchase.
  10. I think you missed the word "like". If you spent $1000 on 100 shares of CCL and took a cruise, you just realised $100 on your $1000 investment. Much like you would with a 10% dividend.
  11. Why? Because the powers that be at celebrity decided to reward their most loyal, repeat guests with perks of varying cost and perceived value. We've cruised with X for 10 years because we like the product, not because of perks. Now that we're elite with X, our next 2 cruises are are on Princess because Celebrity has decided to jack prices up to where they're the high cost provider.
  12. Exactly. It was cheap enough to justify buying for the extra OBC. If it goes way up, I'll sell and have MORE obc. Only issue is that I booked a princess cruise. Now I'll have to buy 100 of those at <$10 and get $100 in obc which is like a 10% dividend. Guess I'll bite that bullet.
  13. By the time new math was finished with drawing the tic tac toe board and the subsequent seemingly pointless diagonal slashes, followed by disconnected multiplication and addition of numbers in no relevant fashion, the stock price went up, went down, went up, went down, and ended up who knows where.
  14. Not even remotely the same. Unless you pay for a filet mignon in advance because that's what they advertised, and have no issues with them serving you a Salisbury steak.
  15. Would complaining about X failing to deliver what they're advertising fall into the 'favourite alcohol' complaint? 🙂
  16. Give 'em time. The committee probably hasn't met to decide on the next name for the same sale.
  17. Happy hour is no longer an activity of any kind. It's free drinks at almost any bar for 2 hours. No additional staff, nothing special going on other than a charge doesn't hit your room for drinks for those 2 hours.
  18. Someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong, but with Aqua on Edge class you do NOT get access to the Thermal Suite. On other classes you get Persian Garden access, but not on E-class.
  19. Blu isn't better. It's different. Whatever 'spa inspired' means is beyond us, and generally isn't to our taste. And it's certainly not a healthy menu by any means. Some people prefer the difference of Blu, we do not and many others share our opinion if you look at the number of "order from the MDR" comments that are made in Blu-related threads.
  20. While both posts are true, they don't explain why. Husband to new wife: "Why do you cut both ends off the ham before putting it in the pan?" Wife: "I've always done it that way. That's how my mom always did it." Wife to mom: "How come you always cut the ends of the ham before putting it in the pan?" Mom: "I've always done it that way. That's how your grandma always did it. " Wife to grandma: "How come you always cut the ends of the ham before putting it in the pan?" Grandma: "Well dear, it's because my pan was too small to hold the entire ham." Always having done something a certain way isn't an explanation for why it's done that way.
  21. Well, Disney seemed hell-bent on pricing me out of going there with annual price increases that made college tuition increases look very reasonable. Cruise lines may well follow suit.
  22. Ahhhh... limited to Apex & Beyond apparently. Didn't see it on the Infinity.
  23. Had to look it up. Seeing as how F45 seems to be a franchise, I highly doubt there is anything onboard. Pelotons, yes. Treadmills, yes. Weights & machines, yes. Spin classes, yes.
  24. Cheapest balcony for a 7n Eastern Carib in Jan/Feb '24 is over $4k. That's about a 33% increase from recent prices, and 50% over our Jan '22 price. Princess is going to be getting our business for at least the next couple of years with X prices being the way they are.
  25. Just off the Infinity. Makers, Buffalo Trace, Jim Beam were common. Bulliet at Rendezvous Woodford was only at the casino (regular, not double Oaked).
