here is no Medallion on Carnival.  You picture does pop up when your S&S card is scanned.  I think you may be getting your boards confused here 🙂

I am not at all confused.  I am weep aware that Carnival has no Medallion.  I stated that it was on Princess 1/22.  They know where your Medallion is at all times and your ID shows on their screen when you are near not scanned.

No, it was not when you were scanned with the Medallion.  It was when you came within a certain distance of the screen.

Yikes! Complete real time gps tracking? Creepy for sure but kind of intriguing with all the metadata that could be complied. That is an insane amount of data to have at your fingertips

Several times when  we would come close to to an employee with a computer screen they would greet us by name and if we were alone they would ask where the other was.  We thought it was just great memorization.  It took us several days to figure out that we came up on their screen when we walked near.

  4. I was on Princess 1/22.  They have you wear a “Medallion” instead of a key card and while many would tell you that their system is not without flaws, when I left my room with my Medallion inside they were able to see on their computer where it was and issue me a keycard so that I could get in.

believe you can now use your OBC to prebook. Unless your OBC won't be there until you board.

I phoned Carnival a couple of weeks ago and was told that you cannot use your OBC to even prepay gratuities.  I thought that I had read here that you could.  They were firm.

I have not used Rony's but just did book a tour with them for November.  I was asked to put down a refundable PayPal deposit.  I've emailed back and forth with them several times and based on my interactions with them and all of the positive reviews, I am comfortable doing so.  I also was asked to put down a refundable deposit on the tour I am doing in Costa Maya with "The Native Choice".  Both companies are asking for a deposit with the balance paid in cash upon arrival.  Both also have verbiage stating these deposits are refundable.

I, too, booked with Rony’s in 318 for my cruise that was not on 12/20.  They transferred my deposit to my upcoming cruise 12/22.  I, too, sent Native choices a deposit for 12/22.

  7. We will arrive in Costa Maya and after touring the ruins I want to be dropped off at Mahahual.  Which one of theses restaurant/beaches would be recommended?  There will be a 13 year old and 2 20 year olds.  Are the 2 places close to each other?  Thank you for any help.

he $500 and $1,000 regular giftcards are back on Allstate's website, no e-cards  unfortunately. Anyone remember how long it takes to get them?

I ordered $2000 worth of cards from Allstate in the last 2 months.  I don’t understand the advantage of e cards.  Can you explain please?

  9. I have booked a half day tour to the ruins with Native Choices.  My plan was to get dropped off at Mahahual and go  to the Krazy Lobster.  How does this compare to just returning to the Costa Maya cruise port and hanging out there.  Are there decent restaurants to eat lunch there? Enough things to see and do?   We will be a group of 5 or 6 including 2 20 year olds and a 13 year old.  Thank You.

While there been no official announcement about the current no-fee restaurants I think the general consensus is the current setup will be a permanent arrangement. The reason being that the design of the Mardi Gras's main dining rooms are too small to accommodate a full ship and it was designed that way on purpose. There's nothing preventing Carnival from keeping this arrangement and it's not unique, just look at NCL and Celebrity. In the end what Carnival designates as included dining vs extra fee is all arbitrary, semantics, and marketing. The amount space allocated to Chibang it would be impossible to fill that restaurant if there was a cover charge and the seats are needed to adequately seat all passengers at dinnertime.

I will be on the Celebration 12/27/22.  I changed from traditional to anytime because I am hoping that the policy stays the same.

IMO.  you don't buy (or not buy) Cheers due to the 15 drink limit (which if you're hitting daily, you may nee to attend a few Friends of Bill sessions).

I’ve been reading this thread and so wanted to write something similar to this.  It’s bizarre to me to drink 15 drinks in a day, but even more bizarre to complain that it is not enough!
