There are several types of groups.
There are groups (blocks of space held by TA's at predetermined rates) that anyone can book into. Then you also have groups where people that know each other get together and set up a specific group that only their friends can book into. Group rates also vary. The earlier they are blocked then the better the pricing will be. If you set up a specific group for friends a year after itineraries have been released you will in all likelihood have a higher rate than someone that blocked their group the day itineraries were released.
Group rates also only apply to double occupancy rooms for balconies and below and not in every category of balcony and below.
Not sure that will happen. Don't forget, there are very few suites and ships have seen them sell out well over a year or in some cases 2 in advance. For all those that hold off someone will step in to takle their place.
Unfortunately most people tend to leave the cancellations until last minute and Royal may not be able to command as high a price for that sailing as they may have had they had the cabin for sale at other times.
The problem is that despite the $100pp change fee there are still a large number of people who continue to hold multiple bookings with no intention of taking them. Yes it is a big problem.
I just had clarification on the non refundable deposits.
The entire deposit amount is now lost if you cancel or move a booking. The option to change sail dates for a $100pp penalty no longer exists for suites.
I just looked at it again and while it appears that you can make a refundable deposit it is really just lip service as the one sailing I quickly checked had a $4000 price difference on a CS
The results are all over the place, some get great rooms, some don't.
You cant book a guarantee that is refundable.
If the ship that you are booking on has obstructed balconies that is likely what you will be assigned.
