  1. I am sorry but you are mistaken. I have personally done this many times While you’re encouraged to place a deposit on your account, there is no minimum deposit required when setting up a cash account. There is a USD$500 daily spend limit for sailings seven nights or longer and a USD$300 daily spend limit for sailings 6 nights or less on cash accounts. All cash accounts are reviewed on a daily basis. The ship will inform you once your daily cash limit is reached. Once informed, you must make a cash deposit to your account or provide a credit card to secure it, or your SeaPass card will be deactivated for purchases.
  2. On a 7 day cruise with a cash account you are allowed to charge up to $500 before being required to pay down your account. You do not need to prepay anything. you can pay down your account in any manner you wish.
  3. No. It has wine pairing. Best you will get is a reduced rate but definitely not included.
  4. 10% of the cost of balconies and below is generally less than what the current deposit rates are. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  5. The OP is Canadian. Wish we had those cheaper options.
  6. Canadian as well and most carriers have a roam like home plan you can add. About $15 a dsy.
  7. That is because you boarded with a passport. The OP did not have a passport
  8. You need to show ID to exit the ship. If you sailed with a passport they use facial recognition. If you sailed with a BC and drivers license you will need to show your drivers license
  9. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/direct-booking-transfer Less than 30 days since creation and not paid in full
  10. True if you are booking direct but if you are booking through a TA they can put holds on cruises to lock in the pricing. Holds range from days to 30 days depending on how far from the sailing date you are.
  11. Minor increases. most bands went up by $10. Some did not go up and a couple went up by $20. The ones that did not change or went up by $20 were above $5000 pp cruise fare. Pretty reasonable increases after 4 or 5 years with no increase.
  12. Only to their own website. They will not match TA's
  13. Not surprising, the rates have stayed the same for at least 4 or 5 years
  14. Royals travel insurance makes absolutely zero sense to purchase for the deposits for a number of reasons. Royals travel insurance is paid at final. While it could be purchased ahead of time it is based on the entire cruise fare. Their is no option to insure only a portion of your trip. Take a $20,000 suite (after taxes) the deposit is therefore $2,000. The premium for the insurance is $999 per person. Pretty sure that most can see that is not a winning proposition. You can find other insurance providers where you can cover the deposit only and then increase the amount when you make final but tat option is not available with Royals insurance.
  15. That is a pretty specific rider. Very few policies have that
  16. I would say just the increase overall in suite prices across the board in the last few years had a lot to do with it. Look at those $100k suites on Icon that could be held with $500 down and abandoned at final for a $200 penalty
  17. I passed on Christmas 2023 even though it was a great deal as we wanted to do the 8 night Southern on Odyssey over Christmas and it's pricing was not bad for a new ship. 2024 NYE I could not pass up. balconies for under $2k Canadian or right around $1500 USD for the 8 day sailing. My kids aren't impressed at it being an older ship but until they start paying their own way.....
