  1. Thanks for the info. Wouldn't really be worth upgrading it with the amount we'd drink, so I'm glad to hear we'll be fine.

A few reasons you would want to consider upgrading is if you prefer any wines that are more than $8/glass, beer that is more than $6/glass, martinis at the martini bar, drinks at molecular bar, or specialty coffee. I choose to because I enjoy a martini....or two...before dinner and since there aren't a whole lot of $8 and under wines it makes sense to upgrade......with the upgrade you would also get Evian water instead of the "generic" version, but that doesn't really matter to me. Either way, have fun!!

  2. We are in connecting cabins next month on the Silhouette. I was told that they are the same as the other cabins in size. They connect via a door in the hallway so they don't take up any cabin or closet space.

  3. We only do one formal night and that is only because my son wants lobster! I know we could have it delivered via room service, but we don't care for that. My hubby says that he has to dress up for work so on vacay he wants to relax and be more casual. Still trying to figure out why a jacket with no tie is considered ok in the MDR for formal night but a tie with no jacket is not. Grrrrr.....to me the tie looks more formal....and easier to pack! ;)

  4. I think (could be mistaken) that daily "limit" for premium package is $86 per person. What if you go over $86? Some people easily can - I doubt Celebrity will be paying for their drinks. Did anybody has experience of going over the limit of $86?

I'm a bit confused with this. While there is no limit on how many drinks one can have in a day it does not cost $86/day for the premium package, it would cost approx $81 to upgrade from classic to premium, but that is over the week of the cruise.

  5. You can't downgrade. We tried it on our last cruise. The only thing we were able to do is upgrade the classic alcohol package to the premium alcohol package and that way smoothies, vitamin water, etc will be included....it will cost you approx $81 to do that.

  6. Just out of curiosity, what kind of cabin did you have on Celebrity? We have sailed on both Princess and Celebrity and although we love both we find Princess cabins MUCH more expensive. My parents are "black" ( that is the highest status on Princess, right?) so when we travel with them we cruise Princess and notice that we can get balconies on Celebrity cheaper....or almost cheaper...than an inside cabin. Balcony vs balcony Celebrity is a lot cheaper.

  7. We booked a cruise on the Silhouette for next Jan. We chose the OBC of 200.00 but after reading all these posts I'm not sure that was the best one to choose.

We have no experience with the 123 Go so we were not sure what to choose. There are two of us, my husband and I. Should we have chosen the classic drink package instead to get more bang for our buck? Can we change to or is it too late once you choose one? Decisions, decisions...

It all depends......do you drink alcohol? If so, I would definitely recommend it. The package is worth roughly $700. Even if you don't drink alcohol you would still be able to get some non alcoholic drinks with it, but depends on how much you drink. If you feel that you would drink less than the $200 that you would get as your on board credit I would stick with it, but chances are unless you only drink tap water, lemonade, or iced tea (which are all available at no extra charge) you will probably drink more than $100 each worth of beverages during the week. We weren't sure what to do the first time we were offered it and chose the drink package. It was the best way to go!! Due to a huge mix up with our reservation for our upcoming cruise we were unable to get the drink pkg, but since it was a mess up by the TA we are getting an extra OBC and plan on using it toward buying the classic pkg.....and possibly even the premium. We were adding up what we think we will drink during the week and it will benefit us. Even those bottles of water add up!! Good luck to you!

  8. Does anyone know what the policy is for Europe? Some cruise lines are 21 everywhere but Europe since the drinking age is 18 there. One of the kids won't be 21 until the month after sailing in Europe so I was wondering if it might be 18.....also casino? I know carnival is 18 but not sure about Princess. Thank you!

  9. I do not believe that this is correct that you can make up the difference.............but will leave it to others more experienced to comment/confirm..............I read otherwise on a Celebrity site but cannot quote that now and will find out what the policy is in September with our 123Go package

The difference can be paid only if you have the premium package.....the full amount would have to be paid with the classic package.

  10. Not sure if this will help, but we are sailing on the Silhouette next month in a hump cabin. Granted we are on the 8th deck port side, but we were told that it is a great place to be. I have read reviews of the cabin and it got great reviews. The slanted cabins on the hump have a bigger balcony so maybe you want to consider that. Also, if you have a cabin in mind read the thread about the specific cabins. There might be a review of the one you are looking for.....once we return I can let you know how we liked ours!!

  11. I posted yesterday that we have cabin 7183-

I'm concerned that it is possibly two floors above the mid-ship smoking section. I called Celebrity on my lunch hour (on hold 30 min) and was told

that the only smoking section is in the back of the ship by the Sunset Bar.

Is this true ??? I have a feeling I was lied to.

My wife is allergic to cigarette smoke so this is a big deal to us.

I too am allergic to smoke. Last year we were on the 7th deck port side and I NEVER smelled smoke at all!! I was concerned that people wouldn't follow the rules and smoke on their balconies, but that didn't happen either. Enjoy!!

  12. We did select last year, had reservations for the same time every night and loved it for the most part. We really liked our wait staff so requested them for the rest of the cruise, but we were told that we could only have them if they were available, which, on a few nights, they weren't. We ended up waiting 45 mns after our reservation so we could get them on our last night. We are doing select again this year. We will see how it all works out.

  13. If you are only 8 days away it will be too late to get them via mail. Maybe that is why a link isn't showing up. They can be printed on line.....or you can get them at the port.

  14. We have taken several cruises with my parents , brother, and the kids. We have 5 staterooms which are all next to each other and two across from us. We have NEVER heard anything and each respects each other's privacy. To be honest, we usually don't even see anyone but our own kids until we meet for drinks before dinner.

  15. Hi! We are sailing on the Silhouette in connecting staterooms 8271 and 8273. I understand that they don't connect via a door inside the room, but actually outside of the room? I have seen some pics but am still confused. Is there one outside door we can all enter then have the inside doors open so we can go into our respective rooms? Also, if we talk to our cabin steward he will open the partition on the balcony? We usually sail with 2 rooms but our kids are usually across from us in an inside cabin, but this time a balcony was actually cheaper so they get a balcony! Thank you for any help!!

  16. If I'm not mistaken the pick your perk promo is for cruises starting in May I believe.....we booked ours at the end of Feb for an April cruise when the 123go promo was still in effect and even tho the TA told us we would have it we ended up not getting it cuz of the price of the cruise. We were bummed to say the least, especially since I have it in writing, but unfortunately there is nothing we can do cuz we booked thru a TA and Celebrity will not deal with anyone once a TA is used.

  17. We did Sandcastle on St Croix as well! Very nice, but unfortunately we had rain the first 3 days of our cruise so didn't spend the whole day there. Did a waterfalls and beach tour in Dominica. It was a trek back to the waterfalls but was nice once we got there. The beach I wouldn't do again. Black and HOT!! Also rented a jeep in St Thomas (St Croix as well) and went to Magen's Bay. I didn't find it too crowded at all. It was nice. We do that every time we go to St Thomas. Have a great time!! We loved the Summit! If it wasn't for my daughter taking the ACT on the Saturday that Spring Break starts we would be going on the Summit again. We need a itinerary that sails on Sunday so we are going on the Silhouette. Enjoy!!...... And if you are at the martini bar you must find Gede. Great bartender!!!
