  2. My turn to guess Been on a half dozen or so Carnival cruises. I was given upsell offers on my Nov 21 and Jan 22 cruise. Both cruises I had inside rooms booked. November I booked 2 rooms side by side. Upsell offer was for my room. Moved to an extended balcony one floor down. Other room didn't change and the original room I had went vacant. January I had a mid ship lower level inside. Got upsold to a lido balcony. Not sure what they did with my original cabin. It seems that there has been an increase in frequency in upsell offers since the restart. The major change in the business has been the number of pax sailing. Both my cruises were way below capacity. Acknowledged both times by the cruise director. My guess is Carnival is upselling rooms on half full ships to generate more income. Selling at a discount is still a sale. That is also why cruise fares and promos have been insane for sailings this spring. As demand for cruising increases and the ships are getting closer to capacity I expect the upsell offers will decrease.
  3. Until my past 2 Carnival cruises I have managed to have never gone to guest services. These past 2 I had to upon boarding because the new muster procedure wouldn't allow my card to scan or I wasn't on the list. Both cruises my room was changed during an upsell so maybe that's why. Just had to shake my head and laugh that their improved procedure caused my perfect streak to end.
  4. I love cruising. One of the many things that I love about it is meeting new people and the shared experience. Some of my favorite cruise memories are from Carnival cruises because the other passengers tend to be less pretentious, more approachable, and light hearted. Its a big ship with lots to do. If a situation or a person gives me a bad vibe I will find something else.
  5. No but it does have a 4 person cabin on one side non connecting. My promo was $30 pp for an inside for 7 nights on Legend. I booked the 4k for just a little more because if I don't get an upsell I still have some natural light.
  6. Just a heads up on the Upsell offers, In January I had an inside booked and an upsell offer showed up in my to list to move to a balcony. I tried to click on the offer but Carnivals website was glitching. Called Carnival and was on hold for an hour. When I talked with a rep they saw the offer and the cabin had been taken by someone else. The rep found my a same cat same area balcony for the the same price as the offer I missed. Bottom line if you do miss an offer give them a call they might be able to find you something.
  7. I have a 4k interior booked for my next Carnival cruise. My rate was very low. I wouldn't be surprised if an offer were made as my date approaches.
  8. Back before drink packages and back when you could smoke on the balconies we had the best sail away parties. Friends and relatives would book several balcony rooms next to each other. We would bring along a couple rum runners, a speaker, open the dividers ourselves and have a great time. After our party we would close the dividers and clean up after ourselves. Our cabin steward was always cool with our in cabin bar. Now I no longer smoke. A lot of the people I used to cruise with don't have the time anymore. These days I buy the drink package, make new friends and still love cruising but I do miss the old days of those balcony parties. I also miss the midnight deck parties... Anyway just some random thoughts before bed lol
  9. It's been a few years since I've booked a Fort Lauderdale hotel. DW and I will need a room for 1 night pre cruise. We will most likely arrive 6-8pm. We won't have a car and won't be looking to explore the area. I'm looking for an upscale hotel with a nice on site restaurant. We won't need to be near the beach and we won't be using the hotel pool. Convenience to FLL and or Port Everglades would be helpful for Uber purposes but I won't rule out a property if it's a little out of the way. We are looking for more of a property you would use for a date night or special occasion. Budget is 200 to 300 and we are traveling early December. (I know, I plan early) Any advise would be appreciated
