  1. Do you think low participation is more due to the Meet & Mingles being suspended or because other social media is more active? We are currently booked for two cruises. Both have roll calls on CC that are not used much but both cruises have groups on the other social media (the one with faces). I personally don't like reading the social media site. Conversations are hard to follow (in my opinion) and there is no ship sponsored Meet & Mingle.
  2. I think you meant frozen "ice milk" or "yogurt" because frozen custard is richer and much more flavorful than regular ice cream.
  3. I'd answer but we're not supposed to discuss politics on these threads.
  4. Good question. Not sure what the ship would do. It used to be if they set foot on US soil they were allowed in. If caught at sea, they would be returned. Not sure if that's still US policy or not.
  5. Not really that far away. Also, I'm sure the refugees don't have a navigator on board. Here's part of the news article: A Royal Caribbean Liberty of Seas cruise ship rescued 17 Cuban migrants after they were spotted aboard a small makeshift boat Saturday. The ship had been heading for CocoCay in the Bahamas when its captain spotted the puny vessel that had been at sea for weeks, WPTV reported. “The captain came on and said we have to stop,” cruise passenger Josh Levine told WPTV. “People just started running down the hallway to go check it out and we kind of followed them. It was a surreal experience.”
  6. I wish Celebrity would make up their minds!! I really liked the way you could add the drink package or Wifi during the booking on line. Then they went to all-inclusive which was a pain booking if you wanted to exclude something. Now you can't even price the add-ons such as drink package while doing a booking. It makes it real difficult to do mock bookings to see what the cruise is going to cost. Am I missing something here? For instance, I would like to look at a cruise with the drink package included. Is there a way to price this out before booking? Thanks
  7. Agree. Except that I wouldn't even fly early on the same day! We always fly in the day before. Too many things can go wrong to upend a nice cruise vacation.
  8. I agree with other posters. Why wait for intermittent and crowded shuttles when a taxi or Uber is so convenient and cheap? You can almost walk to the cruise port from the airport (a slight exaggeration but you get the idea).
  9. And why does cargo go by ship and shipments go by car (truck).
  10. I use a lot of black pepper, so I always have to pull the bottom stopper out. It's amazing how many big flakes come out that will never fit out the regular holes.
  11. Back in the early days, some ships would give a gift at Christmas. Perhaps that's the case?
  12. Never seen the short sleeves! That would be weird! Yep. Never turned them down either....
  13. Robes are available for Crown & Anchor members Platinum and above. You have to request them. If you are average size and above, forget it. They're all small. (at least that's what we've seen)...
  14. Good idea about the preprinted note. We've been using hand-written post-it notes. Here are our standard requests for every cruise: 1. Fresh bucket of ice twice daily 2. Two robes 3. An extra sheet to cover the couch (who knows what's been on there) 4. One extra towel daily (Sallie likes an extra one for her hair) We've never had a problem with these requests. We used to ask the steward to empty the refrigerator of the "bar" items, but we don't have to do that anymore since they no longer stock it.
  15. Agree. This is why we have a very nice TA to take care of us.
  16. Bingo. Notes are the best. We leave notes all the time. No problem.
  17. I find it even easier to skip the drop off and park near the elevator. The porters are right there at the ground floor elevators... Love it and the extra cost is worth getting off the ship at the end of the cruise and getting in your car and leaving with no lines to pay on your way out! Yes, it's expensive ($17 per day) but we find it worth it for us.
  18. Too bad the waiters in the MDR for breakfast aren't graded. It's quite the opposite. Trying to get coffee refills is a major chore! Many times they ignore you when you are standing and waving your hands wildly!!
  19. If they're politically correct, they're probably not funny.
  20. Yuk. Sallie usually does eggs to order at Windjammer. Personally, when I'm at the Windjammer, cold cuts, cheese and salmon along with the great rolls are what I like. Sometimes I might get a small scoop of the scrambled eggs from the line if their nice & runny.
