  1. We sailed on Harmony in March in 8254, on the other side of the ship. I enjoyed the Grand Suite, but Dick is half Scottish, and I can’t get away with that again.
  2. 😂 Seagulls are fast and crafty! I am not a fish aficionado, except for fish and chips, with lots of malt vinegar. I’d have been throwing rocks at that seagull
  3. I’m trying to catch up, it’s Jan 17th so I’m still way behind. Just wanted to say I’m on Allure Feb 26 too, with DH and 33 of my friends. No tshirts saying Mandarin Women’s Club, but it may look like more old fogeys on the cruise!
  4. I can’t do heights with glass walls. I have a hard time with walls I could fall over, and windows to the floor make me panic. No can do! Speaking of panic, the last time I was in Central Park in the snow, we had eaten at Tavern in the Green and decided to walk all the way back to the Plaza. The sidewalks had been cleared, but were icy. We were still a couple of blocks north of 59th Street when I saw a couple of grey squirrels alongside us in the snow. I had just said “Oh, look at those poor squirrels” when one ran straight towards us. That’s when I realized they were big rats! I just about killed myself trying to run on the icy sidewalk in strappy stilettos screaming, as were my friends. I was never so glad to see anything as when I finally saw the street ahead.
  5. The aunt of a future grand son-in-law just died in a cruise. I didn’t ask what ship, but it happened after Christmas Eve.
  6. It seems strange to me, but I knew Mike Salvador’s widow before she died. Mike Salvador began the commercial shrimping industry in Fernandina. He developed a boat that could haul big nets, catching more shrimp at a time. They lived in a bungalow off Centre St. The Shrimp Fest used to have shrimp boat races in the river. That stopped when engines were ruined. Local shrimp are the best, but it’s getting harder to find them.
  7. I’m stunned by the fact that there are 60 children sailing. And all occupants of a stateroom pay full price. Someone figured up it’s at least $500,000 for the 274 days for 2 adults and 2 children. At least the kids are being homeschooled. Living that long with any 4 people in a cabin would lead to mayhem for me.
  8. Jeopardy is syndicated, along with Wheel of Fortune. Local channels buy it, so it can run on any channel. In our travels we have found it on NBC and ABC channels, but not CBS yet. Sometimes a channel puts Wheel on first, and sometimes Jeopardy. And there are places out west where we couldn’t find it at all.
  9. Built in entertainment! Lizzy and Charlie are all you need. I hope Linda’s surgery goes well and the New Year will be a pain free one.
  10. I don’t know if that’s a group of Santa Clauses or angels! Maybe a miraculous combination? You just made my Christmas even better! And your story should be in Readers Digedt!
  11. You’ve adddd to our own Merry Christmas with your good news. Even better than good news, it’s glorious news! Have a very happy Christmas!
  12. @LionesssHappy Birthday, Sue! I’m glad life is joyful for you in this “older?” age, and I hope it just gets better and better!
  13. I’ve been wanting some and by George, I’m going to make some this weekend. I put butter on them and eat them with chunky applesauce. Yum!
  14. My younger brother had a bad case of chicken pox. I was at least 13 or 14 and remember it clearly. My other brother and I never caught it. 3 years ago, after a friend went through hell with shingles, I asked my primary about getting Shingrex. He tested Dick and me and we both had the virus in our systems. Neither of us has any recollection of having chickenpox.
  15. Last Christmas Day afternoon, I was sitting next to a guy, who married into my daughter-in-law’s family. It was our first White Elephant gift exchange. (I hate them!!!) He opened the White Elephant he got. It was a can of dehydrated water. He spent the next hour staring at it and shaking it and finally turned to me and said “It must have had a leak. I think it’s empty”!!!! Absolutely true story. Nobody said a word, and his husband told him he’d explain later.
  16. I love to take advantage of every meal opportunity when I cruise! Dick would eat every meal in Windjammer, I would eat every meal in a specialty restaurant. We compromise with dinner in the MDR. I’m enjoying your meals vicariously!
  17. Happy Hanukkah to @dani negreanu @lenquixote66 @BonTexasNY and everyone else celebrating the miracle of the oils.
