  1. Yes, you can decorate your cabin. Go for it! So many automatically assume that decorations are synonymous with destruction. Not true. Even Princess puts balloons and or signs on their passengers' doors for special occasions. Royal Caribbean sells decoration special occasion packages to decorate cabins. If it were so verboten, cruise lines wouldn't sell packages.

Have a wonderful cruise, and make sure to post a pic of the decorations. :D

    Thanks!! 😁

  2. We don't decorate, but there are people who do.

You can search CC and find lots of comments about things "not to use", like tape and warnings about being charged if you damage things....

We often travel for the holidays and we do not decorate because the space in the room is just way too small with 4 of us in there. If we were in a mini suite or suite, then I might bring a few small things because there would be space but we just don't spend very much time in our rooms.

If you want to decorate, go for it. If its something that will make your trip more enjoyable, enjoy decorating iy. Just be prepared for things like items on your door might get stolen or damaged. The indoor walls are magnetic as well, so there is the possibility to decorate quite a bit.

    Enjoy your cruise

    Thank you!

  3. Always cruise the early part of December. Always bring a little 10" Christmas Tree and a very small nativity set. Have given them to Christian room stewards who were thrilled to have something for their tiny quarters for the Christmas Season. We hardly damage the cabin like some seem to be implying.

Thank you, this is the kind of answer I was hoping for! Great idea both the tree & nativity. I pack lighter these days & those wouldn't take up much room at all.

  4. We cruised out of NOLA in late February a few years ago and it was cold until we hit the Caribbean. The cruise ended in March and was still cold when we disembarked. Don't let that deter you, we had an awesome time.

  5. I, and my BFF (without our husbands) :), will be on the Carnival Vista this year December 2-10. My question is do you decorate your cabin for the Christmas season? If you do what do you use and/or how do you decorate yours? I want to do something, nothing elaborate, I just want it to be a little festive.

  6. I just saw this review by gapearl had popped up again too and was browsing through again. I remember reading when she first posted and loved this itinerary AND the pictures she posted, so I was also disappointed that the pictures are no longer showing up.

The pictures not showing up is because Photobucket, which was the main host site for pictures that many of us had used when doing CC reviews, decided to change their terms of use, mainly affecting their 3rd party image hosting. Unless members pay for the premium package, the highest they offer, which is about $400 a year, they will not be eligible for the 3rd party image hosting. I copied and pasted (below) from Photobucket's updated terms of use:

"Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year. The Plus 50 Plan does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting.

Plus 100 Plan: 102 GB of Storage for $99.99 / Year. The Plus 100 Plan allows for unlimited image linking but does not allow 3rd party image hosting.

Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting."

Sadly, many of the pictures in past reviews will eventually disappear, unless the "ransom" is paid. I've done a few reviews which have not had the pictures removed, yet, and there are others that still have the pictures showing, but Photobucket isn't able to do this all at once, they are "going down the line", so to speak. Those affected have received emails from Photobucket to notify them that they are no longer eligible for 3rd party image hosting. I know that I will not be paying that amount when they get to me.

But yes, even without the pictures, this review (and all of gapearl's other reviews) are great reads and well worth the time.

Thanks for the info. I completely understand why people are not staying with Photobucket!

  7. I know ! It's our 4th Hawaii cruise--first with CCL--but it's still exciting. :D

It's the first one with our granddaughter, who will be 5 then.

I have sailed on all of them, and Splendor is in a class by herself.

I love the pink colors--DH not so much--..I love the black granite staircase.

I think you are in for a treat. :D

The only thing I didn't care for was having to walk past a smoky casino. That is easily solved by using another deck.

Google Carnival Splendor images and you can see a lot of pix.

We live in SD so have been to the MR many times. We love it, with Cabo being my favorite port.

    I'm excited for you..

Thank you Patti! We are all very excited especially since it's the grandkids first cruise! They are ages 17, 16, 12, 7 and 16 months. The parents are all going and, us and another set of grandparents.

  8. I do know that Splendor will be leaving.

The whole family is booked for Sept. 2018 on a 15 dayer to Hawaii.

We took a Splendor cruise to the MR a few years ago when she was home ported here in CA.

We are booked on the March 2018 cruise to MR. Our 1st time to MR & 1st time for a 7 day Carnival cruise. Have been on the Imagination & Inspiration a few times. Do you know how Splendor compares to those 2 ships?

  9. We just got off the Splendor this past Sunday and it was an amazing vacation!! I'll be posting a full review soon. I would sail on her again in a heartbeat - she was the perfect size and awesome ship!

We will be sailing on her for the first time in March 2018. There will be 13 of us ages range from 16 months to 68 years old! Looking forward to your review.

  10. I am not happy with the direction Celebrity seems to be going with this either. I may cancel my booking on the Edge. a "sinful" anything is NOT what I am looking for!

DH and I feel the same way and nothing about their Eden appeals to us. We've already decided to either move our cruise to a different ship; maybe on the Equinox again since we loved that ship. Or book a different line.

  11. I just found your review and glad I did! We will be on the Splendor in March 2018 to the Mexican Riviera during Spring Break  We are a group of 13; 2 sets of grandparents, 2 sets of parents and grandkids ages 17, 16, 12, 7 and a 16 month old. :):):):):)

We are all super excited, especially the kids since this will be THEIR FIRST CRUISE!!!

  12. We really get invited for two reasons. We are both part time TA's and sell a LOT of Carnival and we have good friends in Carnival management. Not sure which gets it done. I can send a note on the temps, not sure it will accomplish anything. I agree on the temps tho.......

Enjoying your review. My BFF and I will be on the December 2nd cruise. I have always thought about becoming a TA but no idea how to go about it. Now that I'm retired I just may look into it :)
