  1. You absolutely CAN bring as much soft drinks and water with you. Put a luggage tag on it and drop it off for the porters. We have brought a case of soft drinks and case of water before.

You can bring a can of coke to the dining room too, but I would just order it. They'll bring you a glass of ice and a coke.

You know, they also have a soda package. You might do the numbers and see if it would be more cost-effective - depends on how much you drink.

    Good to know! Thanks.

  2. Our family doesn't drink alcohol, so we are planning to bring a case of water and some soda onboard with us (not purchasing any drink packages), but are unsure then, how dinner, in the main dining room, will work. Are you simply served a choice of water, tea or juice? Is soda an option? And if it is, is there a charge by the glass?

My understanding is that is not allowed on Celebrity ships  but I definitely could be wrong.

  3. Just my two cents, but don't do it!

I bought hubby a new iPad air for his Birthday a couple of years ago onboard. The only savings was the tax for us, but I didn't have a gift for him so I ran up to the apple store the first night and purchased it.

Straight out of the box, the thing never worked! it wouldn't hold a charge and kept shutting down amongst other issues. Hubby has several apple products including the iPhone, iPad and Mac Pro so he is not a novice with apple products. The very next day, we went up to exchange it and they would NOT exchange the item. We did not want a refund, we wanted an iPad that worked. The manager got involved and stated it is their policy to not refund since people can use the item for the cruise and then return it. Makes sense to me, but again, we did NOT want a refund...just an exchange to the exact same iPad, however one that worked! This turned very ugly between hubby and manager with the manager not budging.

A letter to corporate when we returned home was in order and they were very apologetic!

We went into our local apple store and the manager said that the apple store onboard is a "re-seller" and he had no<script id="gpt-impl-0.08820387821164427" src="http://partner.googleadservices.com/gpt/pubads_impl_95.js"></script> obligation to help us, but was very kind and exchanged the broken iPad (which he confirmed was not working) with a brand new in box replacement.

Based on our experience, we would never ever purchase anything from the apple store onboard again.

Good to know! Thanks for sharing. I was debating buying one here or on board. Now I know I will be buying a new one sometime before we sail.

  4. I am familiar with the Chef's Table but I have never heard of a Progressive dinner.

What Celebrity ship offered this, price? and what restaurants were included?

I only know about it from here on cruise critic. Start at one premium restaurant for a course & move through the other restaurants for the remaining courses; includes wine pairings. I read $110 pp. This is not advertised either and I read to sign up at Guest Relations.

  5. We will be on Equinox in March 2017. We want to do either the Chef's Table or the Progressive Dinner; possibly even both. Which do you prefer and why? Also I know you have to sign up for these on board but where do I need to do that? If you have menu's or know what foods may be served I would love to hear that too. I am super excited and want to experience as much as I can!!

    TIA for your help. :)

  6. IMHO don't let the naysayers and the complainers here bring you down. Equinox is a great experience.

First it is a large ship but not too large. So you have all the benefits of a large ship but none of the overcrowding.

Second, it is a very beautiful ship. The overall decor is nicely understated and cleanly elegant. The cabins are well layed out. The showers are roomy and it's not like getting into a space capsule tube where you have to put the soap on the walls and turn around to get wet. As usual, there are people that complain because some of the drawer space is over the bed but we've always found enough places to arrange our things. We always stay in an inside room on a higher deck and if this is one of the less enviable cabins you can imagine how great the others are.

Third there a lot of small touches that add to the general feel of a step up from other ships. For example, when you return from getting off the ship there is an area set up on the dock which has cold wet hand towels and cold drinks there to greet you. When you go to the rest rooms there are nice fixtures and cloth towels to wet your face and\or dry your hands off.

Fourth, as one of the other posters said, the Solarium is a place for peaceful relaxation. They have wooden loungers with thick padding. There is also a pool to cool yourself off in. A small area is there to have a light breakfast. In addition there are 2 hot tubs there for you to enjoy.

Fifth, there is the Spa which features the Persian Gardens. It has hot stone tile beds and cool rain mist showers to enjoy. This is complimentary for some of the more expensive cabin guests. However, when you get on the ship go there directly and there are a limited number of weekly passes sold for a more than reasonable fee which gives you unlimited access there. Just don't hog a bed when you go there.

Sixth, I have never had a bad meal there. There is enough variety offered to satisfy anyone except for some who may be difficult to please. One tip is that people often enjoy going to the Oceanview Cafe buffet once or twice for dinner during the cruise. I have heard that they have a grill there which can serve cooked to order cuts of meat there, in addition to the wide variety of other items.

I could go on and on and probably have but you can tell we like this ship. We've been on enough cruises to know. We're going on the Equinox for the 3rd time next March. My wife loves the itineraries they have too.

What else can I say except you will love your cruise on the Equinox.

Hey there NP! I know you from the roll call for the March 24 cruise that sails in less than 198 days :)

I'm wondering why you choose inside cabins. We are in an inside cabin just to save some $$$$'s.

  7. 1. What would the cost be for a taxi from the cruise port to the Historic Garrison Area?

    2. Is it be easy to find a taxi in the Historic Garrison Area to get back to the cruise port?

    3. Our cruise will be in Barbados on a Sunday - what is opened/closed in the Historic Garrison area?

    4. Is there a printable walking map of the Historic Garrison Area? I haven't been able to find one so far.

You might try contacting one of the resorts to see if they have a walking map they could email to you.

Were you just in a bad mood and wanted to complain about something, and this was all you could come up with?

I was thinking the same thing.

My thoughts as well, especially when the package is a "perk"!

  9. As someone who has a first Celebrity cruise experience coming up in November, it's fun to read about new things, just as it's fun to read about previous Celebrity experiences.

I'm loving all the info I'm gathering here, and highly anticipating experiencing it for myself.

This is the same for me & DH. First X cruise in March 2017 :) We will be trying so many different things on board including some of the ones listed on this thread. The Blendtique is especially appealing to DH!

While not everything is for everyone I think some of it is just the "novelty" aspect such as the picture on lattes; which I may do just to "experience" it!

  10. Got ours at Walmart-Mart. if I remember, the $3.00 - 4.00 each range. We split them between suitcases and figured they added about a pound per cube. The one cruise we've used them we drove so weight was less concerning, but I think they would have been within limits.

When I was looking, there were others that were closer to $8.00 - 11.00 each and were very heavy! If you were using these inexpensive ones daily, they wouldn't last long at all, but for a trip or two a year I liked them!

Thank you. You wouldn't by chance happen to know the dimensions of either the cubes or cabinet would you? I would hate to buy them only to find them too big to fit in the cabinet.

  11. The first experience, I didn't care for it. However, after the suggestion to take 3 of the foldable, fabric cubes (used in bookshelves, etc,) we LOVED it the last time. I bought 6 of the least expensive cubes (as they are the lightest weight), 3 for each side. I chose 3 different colors for each side which made it easier to know which to pull down. As I folded clothes to pack, I folded them so that once in the stateroom they could go directly into the cubes. On DH's side, gym shorts, socks and casual T's in one, another held Bermudas while the 3rd held polo shirts. On my side they held casual knit tops, work-out clothes, etc with one set aside aor small clutch for nights, crushable hats, etc. even at 5'3", I could reach all using the little loop on the front of the cube.

Where did you buy them and how much were they? I haven't found any that were light weight.
