  1. I agree with this. Include tips as standard and say they cannot be removed! We generally tip a bit extra anyway and see it as a bonus for the staff.
  2. I was on the same sailing but unfortunately didn’t meet Charla or her husband. I can confirm that the retreat host is not a butler and none of those things promised by X materialised, for us anyway. It wasn’t the same butler experience and if I’d paid full price I’d be miffed. Charla May have a different view so am looking forward to hearing her viewpoint.
  3. Neither. I’d want a proper balcony. So I’d probably book a different class of ship or another line if no SV or suites at a decent price.
  4. Usually sail X. Have booked a Regent cruise next October stopping at Kusadasi. Still showing as a stop.
  5. And also you have someone like myself, who for less than a SS, book a Regent cruise on one of their new ships. It’s not with a butler (but didn’t have that on my last cruise anyway), but concierge so hotel stay & flights included as well as excursions which would cost me more on Celebrity.
  6. That was a direct shot across the bow and should have made X execs sit up.
  7. Same. Started to look elsewhere. I’ll always look at Celebrity now but I’m not going to only look ar them any longer. Maybe now they can address the SS and butler issue.
  8. I should also add that whatever Celebrity says, the product is most certainly diminished for SS.
  9. Sorry I should also add Make no mistake the product is diminished for a SS. Whatever Celebrity says.
  10. We are on Beyond and the elite breakfast has been a nice treat and finishing at a civilised 10am as opposed to Luminae 9am!
  11. I’ve just Posted this on another thread - re sky suites. But basically I concur the service is not up my cruise last year in a CS on Apex as far as butler goes. “We are currently on Beyond in a magic carpet suite. (Guarantee) It’s fine. Not great but fine. Saw our head butler first day. If I had paid full price I’d not be happy. Have to get our own drinks. Fridge not stocked. Order room service again fine. But I miss the connection that you have with a butler. it’s definitely not the same experience whatever the spiel is. Long lines at the retreat lounge desk, whereas previously your butler would deal. It’s clear your Retreat Host is a cabin steward and no more. Id only now book a SS with either a guarantee or as move up. I would not pay full price. I would also like to know why we are paying the same gratuities as higher level suites and not getting the same service.”

  13. Sorry but your description of the genie has made me laugh so much the like button wasn’t enough!
  14. Our cabin steward (Aqua) on Silhouette in June was a gem! If I had a ‘host’ like him I’d be happy. Boarding Beyond in 2 days - magic carpet suite. So let’s see! m Edit: I intend to have a great cruise. Butler or not!
  15. I’m gluten free but not coeliac. I don’t eat gluten as it affects my rheumatoid arthritis. Eating it means I can’t walk for a week or more and I’m in severe pain with swollen joints. This was all done under hospital supervision. There was a study at my consulting hospital and it was found that over half the rheumatoid patients reacted badly to eating gluten. Some were also diagnosed with coeliac- unsurprisingly as both are autoimmune conditions.
  16. I was watching one of these ancestry programs and the archivist said that on death certificates ‘failure to thrive’ often could be coeliac, while a ‘choking fit’ could be anaphylaxis. There was one more that they said but I can’t remember!
  17. We sail Friday on Beyond in a Magic Carpet Suite. We have been in an SS, PH CS and Aqua before. I’ll be comparing the service we get. If it’s more similar to the Aqua, then I’ll be making it known on my return by filling in the survey and emailing head office. But I still intend to have a great cruise!
  18. How on Earth is this in any way acceptable? Insurers having to make up for a mistake that was most likely foreseeable. We’ve booked our first regent cruise (concierge) next year and I’ve sold it to my husband as a wonderful experience from start to finish. If it isn’t great I’ll be miffed.
  19. Personally I wouldn’t bother with LPC. Was just a gimmick and the food was just not good enough. Loved Eden and ate in fine cut. Next cruise we have reservations at Le Voyage as well.
  20. It’s a small reason but I downgraded our CS next June to an SV. £20,000 for a CS. No minibar and no guarantee that the suite experience won’t degrade any further. With the saving I’ve booked a cruise on Regent Splendor to try next October.
  21. Mind you for the amount a CS costs it’s a little cheap to not include at least some soft drinks imo.
  22. I watched it. They had one character who seemed to be waiter, housekeeping and helping out with cruise activities. God it was dire. So dire that I loved it! I’ve put on series link 🤣
  23. Happy birthday to your husband. We are also on your cruise in a magic carpet suite. (Was a suite guarantee- so happy with the price) Hopefully our paths cross at some point.
  24. We were in a CS last October. Our mini bar was stocked with beers (including gluten free beer), water and soft drinks of our choice. The stock was replenished as required.
