  1. Are the alternative designs from the survey posted anywhere? I'd love to see those. I'm not a fan of this new Princess livery either, however it looks much better on the Royal-class bow than the Grand-class. The curves of the Grand-class bow distorts the Sea Witch almost beyond recognition.

Not that I've seen outside of the survey. The others were, in my opinion, degrees of gaudier.

  2. My next Princess cruise is (hopefully) in 183 days. I actually don't care if there's a Sea Witch on the bow or not. If there is, I'll take a picture of it. I'll probably take several pictures of it from lots of different angles. You know I love to take lots and lots of pictures. If there's no Sea Witch on the bow I'll be sure to post a Live thread and let you know. Either way I'll post a Live thread. Maybe. Don't get your hopes up. Especially Andrew. You know how he gets. ;) lol Just kidding Andrew. I can't compete with your Live threads anyways. Never mind. No Live thread. I'll just cancel my cruise. Darn it. Now I'm all sad and stuff.

    Love it!

  3. Like it or not like it it really doesn't matter unless one would actually decide which Princess ship to sail on based solely on if it does or does not have the livery.

To me we'll sail on the ship based on the itinerary and dates we prefer and if it has the livery that's fine and we'll like it and if it doesn't that's fine and we'll like that, too.

  4. I was surveyed by Princess about it and was shown multiple designs to vote on and offer likes/dislikes for each.

The one I voted for is the one they went with. Must be just because I voted for it! [emoji6]

Wish my vote worked that way over the years of voting for politicians... [emoji15]

  5. Perhaps reducing some frequency of steak offerings is on select sailings at this time and its purpose is (at least) three-fold: (1) test the waters (pun intended!) for pax reaction to offering it less, (2) be "cost appropriate" for margin control, and (3) drive more covers to Crown Grill/Sterling to grow revenues...

Agree with you Caribill. See my (3) above.

  6. We are by no means food snobs and are, in fact, pretty plain eaters but we do find mass market cruise line food to be less than it used to be. We chalk it up to the usual cost reductions just like you see at many land-based mass appeal restaurant chains. To is cruise food used to be a bit more of a wow - not because it rivaled top land-based restaurants but more because it was way better than one might have expected.

We are still, however, amazed at how they can cook for and serve thousands at a time and give the impression of nicely prepared and presented cooked-to-order items.

So while the food isn't spectacular to us it is certainly good enough and with so many choices we never ave and will never complain about it. We can always find something we like and enjoy it very much.

And after all - we'll take an average meal on a cruise over a very good meal on land any day! [emoji568]

  7. Thanks, RSF Cruiser! We want scenery, beauty, and R&R versus shopping or more "active" excursions (like zip lining, etc.) so this sound perfect!

We may do a day at the Marriott in PV. Any other scenic/R&R recommendations for PV?

Any scenic/R&R type things to do in Mazatlan?

    Thanks!

  8. I've never taken duct tape as I would be afraid my DW would use it on my mouth... [emoji1]

And even at home I have to hide it pre-cruise as I - and only I - obsess about researching, planning, preparing, and dreaming and she tires of it ever so quickly... [emoji15]

Oh the travails of one being COCD (Cruise OCD) and one not....... [emoji568]

  9. I'm not sure that would be all that effective or beneficial. Plus, ship staff use 2-way radios all the time to communicate. Many of those are on licensed commercial radio frequencies and often times they operate in the same spectrum as FRS/GMRS although not on the FRS/GMRS frequencies.

I had said earlier that we are probably looking at the beginning of the end of GMRS licensing. For those interested the following link is a few years old, but illustrates some of the problems trying to license a radio system that is easily available through any retailer and has completely anonymous usage. This is basically exactly the same situation which lead to unlicensed usage of CB frequencies.

    http://www.buytwowayradios.com/blog/2015/05/fcc_eliminates_gmrs_regulatory_fee.aspx

As for how people use their FRS radios while on a cruise, there are numerous ways to turn off all the beeps, alerts and such that FRS radios often have on, by default. If all those alerts and "roger beeps" were turned off, these devices would probably go without much notice by other passengers.

The walkie talkie jammer suggestion was just a joke...
