I have booked a club class mini suite on the Grand. Can I select Traditional Dining and still do Club Class Anytime Dining if necessary? We enjoy meeting people and chatting with our shipmates over dinner. But, there may be times when we miss Traditional Dining time.

We're in a full suite on a ship with Club Class and traveling with our two adult children and their spouses who are not in a suite nor Club Class and are wondering the same thing - can we do TD and dine with them.
Our reservations are linked and we all have the same TD time so it would seem so but...

Thanks for sharing parts of your journey! Especially for those of us who are going to be on this cruise in the coming months it is particularly interesting and helpfull.
May you feel like you're on the cruise forever and may your next one come as soon as possible. [emoji568]

I agree?
I must disagree... [emoji6]

I want this for myself, eventually. But I don't want to just be dropped, I want to be flung, with gusto, using a water balloon slingshot. Goals.
Love it! [emoji1]

Every step up in cabin category, of course, means a price increase as well which therefore means each has a trade-off to consider - including what else once could do with that price differential.
Our ultimate trade-off is to cruise less often but whenwe do enjoy the suite life - the space, the balcony furniture, the perks (especially breakfast in Sabatini's!), and the extra special treatment. As others say it's so easy to get spoiled and never want to cruise unless it's in a suite. We're so there...

Thanks for all of the information. I told my wife this is what she should do with me, when the time comes.
I've told my DW the same. Sadly I won't be able to verify she actually does it...

We love suites so much we choose to cruise half as frequently in order to have the super experience of a suite.
That said, it is difficult to cost-justify a suite based on the perks alone. To us you have to "want" a suite versus try to justify the price by adding the value of the benefits and comparing to the price differential. It's kind of like saying the cost of free drinks and the meal added to coach airfare somehow should equal first class airfare and if not don't fly first class...
If you spend the cruise constantly thinking the nickels and dimes don't add up you'll likely not enjoy the suite as much as you could/should.

For the remainder of the week, I think it does not matter. It seemed to me there was equal amount of land / scenery on both sides of the ship. Before our trip I was thinking a Northbound trip would have better views from starboard, but I don't think that was necessarily the case.
You spend so much time with land on both sides it really doesn't matter.

If I recall correctly Full Suite pax will have a card in their cabin upon boarding inviting them to the specialty dinner restaurant on the first evening with instructions to call the dine line.

If you are only going to do one, Crown Grill would be an excellent choice. :D
Agreed.

Once we did a couples massage and didn't realize they had then started the automatic 15%. We had left a nice "full" tip before seeing that. So afterwards we decided the massage must have been really, really good - twice as good, in fact... [emoji15]

Any comments or tips on the cruise, ship, ports, or excursions for those of us who will be on the same cruise later?

Yes the Double tree has a similar package. They call it "Stay , breakfast and cruise " package.
They don't have a day limit on their website.
Thanks! Off to each website I go to learn more...

Thanks for the great Park hotel Sail info for the San Pedro CP.
Does anyone know if the San Pedro Doubletree has a similar package?

We'll be on the Ruby for the Mexican Riviera cruise in December so looking forward to you having a great cruise and thanks so much for sharing your travels with us!
-
Why give someone else your money before you need to...
Plus if anything changes you have extra work and time to get it back.
-
Our December Ruby cruise now allows reservations for specialty dining but only if pay the cover charge at the time of making the reservation.

...there is no way for sure to know what side will have the best views.
If you stay on your side of the ship you will see everything on one side of the Bay going in and everything on the other side of the Bay going out.
But, as Keith points out, there may be things to see at any given moment on one side or the other (wildlife, mountain views change with the weather, etc.).
-
I can't wait to see Glacier Bay. We will be n the Star. We have balconies but wondering if the views are better somewhere else. I know on dock they should be but we are going early May. Any plac S on the ship where the view is great but we won't be tooo cold?
Balcony is great! Order some room service, sit back, and enjoy the view as it passes before you!
-
Doesn't matter! You'll see everything going in then going out no matter which side you're on.

We were just there last week. We paid $15.00 pp but worth every penny since our guide was an American guy from Washington State. He spends summers in Alaska and winters in Cabo. His name is Justin. He's well known in the Marina area.:D
What tour ooerator is Justin with?

We returned 10 days ago from a Panama Canal cruise that included calls in all three of those Mexican ports. From the research I did in advance, it seemed pretty clear that Cabo offered the best chance to see whales, though it was also possible in PV. (Hadn't really come across anything about whale watching in Mazatlan.)
We booked whale watching tours both in Cabo and PV, with the same operator,: Whale Watch Cabo and Whale Watch Vallarta, which I'd read good things about. They were great to deal with via email to set thing up, and they turned out to be a terrific company; we were in small boats (maybe 25 feet long), and they limit it to 10 adults max. Very comfortable. And these boats had a cover. I enjoy zodiacs, but they are uncovered, and imho you really need some cover from the sun. No need for a zodiac here, just a small boat; there are restrictions on how close any boat can get to the whales.
We did see some whales in PV, but way more in Cabo, and it was our lucky day, too, as we saw a young humpback, maybe three weeks old, learning to breach from mama. Simply an amazing morning as the two whales breached quite a number of times.
Of those three ports, I'd pick Cabo. And again, I highly recommend these folks:

Wow! Great photos!
We saw breaching on one of our Alaska cruises but nothing like this!
We're headed there in December and if we see something half as good as you did we'd be thrilled.
all the blank space next to the aft suite on CB?

Correct on both counts.
