The only positive thing I noticed so far is that Breakaway serves the nutella chocolate crepes and not the chocolate syrup crepes like Pearl does. :D

I like Samsonite's spinner luggage where the handle is built in to the material. We had a handle to break on other luggage at the port in Miami when handing it off to be checked in.

Check out Grand Hyatt. Nice hotel with great room service.

Hi all -
My son and I need to waste 3+ hours from getting off NCL Breakaway until we get on the Amtrak train at Penn Station NYC. Any suggestions on what to do with luggage in tow? Even it it means hanging out for a couple of hours - people watching, getting lunch etc.

Epic has the best pools. I can't stand the DEEP pools on the breakaway class ships. Also like the pool in the adults only area.

How does this affect the cruising experience? Oh, that's right... it doesn't.

We're local in Ft Lauderdale and thinking of jumping on next Friday for a quick getaway. It'd be great if it open next weekend, we'd be one of the first to experience the changes.
Hopefully we will make it there on 11/10. I'm anxious to hear that it has reopened. :D

Does anyone know exactly when Great Stirrup Cay reopens this month?

6. Make sure to wear a cover-up to prevent wardrobe malfunctions.
Do NOT wear a bikini top on the flowrider especially if laying down on the board! There was a woman on the flowrider on our Anthem cruise... well let's just say we all got an eyeful of what was beneath her top. She had no idea it had come all the way down.

I too, am going to Nassau in November with my 5 year old son. We have been to Nassau many times before so this time I am going to try the British Colonial Hilton. Check it out. I have read its safe and very nice. Good luck!
Yeah, I pulled the trigger on British Colonial. At least my son will have access to a pool and kayak. I'm going to save Junkanoo for next spring when hubby is with us.

Hi Everyone!
I just booked myself, my husband and my 4 kids on the NCL Pearl sailing out of New Orleans on 11/26/17 for 9 nights. I'm excited! I'm also a bit nervous as I'm booking this as a surprise family cruise and plan on keeping this a secret up until the end...I hope I can anyway!
This will be the first time that I take my family on a smaller older ship as most of the ones that we've sailed on have been megaships. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Is the ship too small? Are there enough activities to keep the kids busy? The itinerary is very port intensive but I still want to enjoy the ship. Any feedback you guys can give me is appreciated!
We sailed on the pearl in August of this year. The only old parts of the ship that I noticed were the carpet in the cabins and the paint on the balconies. The rest of the ship looked new. But I think the ship is being refurbished next year, so those things should be addressed.
One complaint that I had was the sofa bed in the balcony room. Once it's made into a bed, you literally have to crawl across it to get out to the balcony. That was a major bummer.
There are plenty of activities to keep the kids busy in the kids club. My son was literally begging to go to the kids' club everyday. I don't think the ship is too small. However, it may not have all the bells and whistles that kids want.

Don't want to know. Don't need to know!

This is one of my favorites.
Yep, I've seen that video before. It's perfect. You don't just fall off a ship. It requires some effort on someone's part.

Yeah that's a bit odd... a massage for a child. My son likes pedicures. Try that instead.

Hi all -
We've been to Nassau a few times. We've done Melia Resort, Atlantis, and just walked around the area near the pier. Just me and my son (age 11) are going there in November. I really want to do a beach trip in case we don't make it to Great Stirrup Cay. While I'm interested in Blue Lagoon, it's hard to justify that kind of money if we might get 2 hours at the beach. We're only in Nassau from 1 to 9. While I might be interested in Junkanoo, I'm afraid my kid would whine that he's bored!. All I need is a nice chair, umbrella and food. He needs more ... like toys. Any suggestions on what to do??

Do you mean Anthem or Allure? Regardless of ship, since she's not 13, expect to be with her at all activities. We had to stand in line for 3 hours to watch my son do 30 seconds on the trapeze.

That's a negative on laundry rooms. On my recent Pearl cruise which started on a Sunday, the $19.99 laundry bag special came around on Tuesday morning. That's not a lot of time to get clothes dirty!

That's weird about them trying to charge the gratuities again. I'd possibly call back to upgrade again and ask about this. I've never had any problems upgrading after final payment and keeping my packages.

We did a Freeport glass bottom boat ride. I don't remember seeing BRIGHT coral. It's too far away. What I remember most is seeing the sharks below the boat.
-
There's not much to do in the port area near the ship in Freeport. My son and I did a glass bottom boat tour through NCL. It wasn't overly expensive and it at least got us away from the port to see more of Freeport.
-
I've stayed at Intercontinental near the pier and Savoy in south beach. I recommend both. Savoy is the nicest hotel we've been to. All the rooms are suites.
-
Yes! If you don't like Norwegian Cruise lines, then don't book a cruise with Norwegian Cruise lines! It's that simple.
-
I booked the baths excursion through NCL when we were on the Epic. Let's just say that little boat hauled butt to the baths. We were flying up in the air and then hitting the water hard. Definitely take some motion sickness medicine beforehand!

Just FYI, I don't think the meta upgrade works for a suite upgrade.

It won't. Just regular balconies.

I'd prebook with Chilkoot Charters & Tours. Just remember the weather you experience in Skagway, may not be what's going on further north. I'd go no matter what the weather. We had a great time with Chilkoot.
