  1. SomomaMountain - you will love New Zealand. We did a land trip there several years back. Spent 3 weeks between the two islands. I would go back again. Incredible country and people. We have an Australian Shepherd. Maybe we can figure something out to meet sometime soon at S.L.
  2. Thank you for that suggestion and further clarification. I was a little confused as my TA said the promo was until 2/28. What we missed was the OBC. Darn. We are looking at Spring next year.
  3. Edinburgher, thank you for this information. Do you recall how long it took via bus, and whether there were a good number of stops along the way? Did you enjoy Piran?
  4. Well darn. I am not entirely sure on the itinerary. Thanks for this though. If I remember correctly, Seabourn offered a suite life promo last summer as well? Is this one that they run from time to time
  5. I was wondering what the FCD was. Thank you. So I can make any dollar amount FCD without making a selection of the itinerary, and that entitles me to 5% discount off a future cruise with a future promotion? Is this correct?
  6. I am not sure how long the suite life promotion will be available. Likely not until we sail late May? That would be my guess, but I could be wrong. As a first time Seabourn cruise, is it correct the the only advantage is a 5% discount on future cruises of booked on board? Is that the ongoing advantage of booking on board? Thank you
  7. Thank you Wesport. I appreciate this additional info!
  8. As you said. Good to have. Some of the descriptions need some clarification on the excursions, but I think that is incredibly common. We rarely take them, but the port of Vis Island might be a smart one to do if we decide to go out on the water, rather than stay on land. Not a lot of DIY options that I am finding.
  9. Thank you. I called the main number and was transferred. This is good info to have!
  10. We are traveling in May this year. We are looking at an itinerary next Spring that we like. Having no history with Seabourn, I am not sure how to best guess on the pricing models. The Suite Life promotion currently occurring looks fairly good. I do not know what onboard booking advantages are generally offered with Seabourn. In your experience, and knowing it’s somewhat a roll of the dice, is it best to book on board or not necessarily? Also, Does Seabourn honor a better promotional price after booking but before full payment should that occur? thank you
  11. Thanks for this link. I will check it out as well. I think the taxi is about an additional 10eu each way over the bus. Either way, it’s not a pricey jaunt!
  12. Great point. Weighing in what is of personal, individual value with the included cost and non included costs.
  13. Small world. Of Los Alamos. Spring lake trails with pup a daily for years. Our first Seabourn coming up. Maybe we will meet at some point!
  14. I decided to bump this back up. I am narrowing down some port plans, many of which are simply DIY, which is our style. One that has me finding very little on is Vis Island. Most people visit it from mainland Croatia or a larger island. Most independent private tours start from afar that I am finding. I just posted on TA and thought I would reach back out here. One idea is an all day boat tour as I read that Vis is best seen this way. Has anyone visited here previously. We will have a full day.
  15. When I called the excursions desk less than two weeks ago, I did not book the excursion. I was information gathering. Yesterday when I pulled it up online, the published price had increased from less than two weeks ago. This is a small speedboat excursion. I will call them again today. Doubt it will make a difference. But thank you all for your input. I just find it strange that they published one price, and then all of a sudden they change it for the same sailing and excursion published in USD. It would make more sense maybe if a different sailing. I probably will look at TA for a private as well at this point. My thanks to you all for your feedback
  16. Thank you very much for this further information. I did see a Lake Bled excursion - both private on TA and ship. It looks beautiful. My hesitation is that it stated 2.5 hrs each way. I did find Piran as I mentioned. It looks like a good and easy way to spend part of a day. Probably taxi but you may have thoughts on that. This is our last day on ship, so having time to relax on board part of the day and get packing organized wouldn’t be all bad either. I will hit the search function on Piran. Didn’t find much on Koper. Thanks for the suggestion!
  17. Hello Sonoma Mountain! East SR here! I am not sure why this would happen. When I talked to excursions desk they confirmed the price as well as the number (only 22) that would be on the boat. If this doesn’t sound typical, I will call them again to see what/why this occurred. Thank you both for responding.
  18. Of course! I am challenged with bus rides, let alone long ones on winding roads so I try to avoid those at all costs. Works for a lot of people though. Will be curious as to what you think. Safe travels
  19. MeHeartCruising - I have done further research. It seems that there is another nearby town that you can easily take a bus or taxi to called Piran. It looks to be a pretty interesting old city to explore - 25 min drive from Koper. Approx 25eu for taxi, less for bus but longer. It might be worth a look, and could fill out a day to just explore both towns. Thought I would lyk.
  20. I am curious. I called Seabourn less than 2 weeks ago to discuss an excursion that caught my eye and asked some questions when speaking to the excursions desk. Today I clicked back into my account to look at it again. It has increased in price! And no, I am not imagining this. Is this a common practice of Seabourn to increase prices as you get closer to sail date (ours is May), or as the excursion is getting full? I’ve never experienced this. We are not often taking ship excursions, rather preferring to DIY or private…..but this one looked like a fun one. Thanks
  21. Good to know to keep an eye on price swings. We are RT out of Venice, and the itinerary per day is not inexpensive - but it wasn’t with any of the lines in that area we mentioned. I hope you enjoyed them enough to sail again given the right itinerary. I booked our hotel in Venice a few weeks back, and talk about through the roof! Nada included!
  22. We are sailing Seabourn for the first time this May. I have read this Hank and plan to pack accordingly. Husband will take a Blazer, sans tie. No tux. To add to this more relaxed environment than maybe Seabourn was in the past, they will now be allowing ‘nice jeans’ in the MDR. Lots of dialogue around that. Ha! Regarding costs. I narrowed down to four lines with one itinerary we liked on each for this spring. I added up all the costs - what was included, what wasn’t, on a per day basis. Based on promotions at any spot in time, this can certainly vary, but I was surprised at the outcome. I also tried to compare similar balcony cabins. I compared Viking first as we have great affection for this line,& sailed several times, but their pricing has significantly increased! So I looked at Oceania, Seabourn, Azamara and Regent. (SS was the priciest and most formal so we moved on from them). We booked Seabourn. It was less than Viking, similar but a bit less than Oceania. Regent with included business air will get a good look for next year. (This year I had a lot of miles to use and airfare is through the roof). For 2024, We will also look again at Oceania. Viking is doing the same itineraries in the Mediterranean they have been doing for years and we’ve been to a lot on them, so likely won’t happen. Depending on Seabourn this May, we either will look or we won’t. Not sure about Azamara. Their country intensive are interesting. Itinerary and pricing are both the biggest factors, but both have to be positive. I guess my point is that assuming one of these lines, that in the past were ‘more expensive,’ may not be so in the current business climate. They also are not as formal as they were in the past.
  23. Well, I guess I am not the only one. In looking at this port I thought I must be missing something or the ship lines going in there would find a different option. We generally do our own things as well. Ship excursions are not generally our go-to. Might check out the town and then enjoy an emptier beautiful ship! Thank you for coming back to me.
