My legal 'FIRST' name which I have never gone by; (rather I have gone by my MIDDLE NAME AND SURNAME)' which is what is printed on my BOTH my Passport and Ontario Driver's Licence!

The ONLY place that my FULL, LEGAL name appears is on my Birth Certificate and Health Card!

I have NEVER included my (LEGAL) FIRST NAME on any Passport Applications or Passport Renewals!  There has NEVER been a problem with International Travel!

Does anyone anticipate/expect, that suddenly, with the slew of documents required for International Travel, when the Name on my current, valid Passport DOES NOT MATCH my FULL legal name as appears on my ONTARIO PROOF OF VACCINATION CARD WITH THE QR CODE?  I see that my MIDDLE name has been CAPITALIZED on my QR Vaccination Card!

This was my exact scenario, I've always gone by my middle name. My middle name and surname is all that is on my Passport. I predicted a potential issue last year, I went into a Service Ontario location with my passport and had my name changed on my health card before vaccines were rolled out. It didn't take long for my new heath card to come in. So I had my new Health Card for when vaccines started, so my vaccine certificates now show the exact name that is on my passport. I feel better with my vaccine certificate matching my passport to avoid any potential issue.

I would like to hear from any Canadians who may have already experienced post cruise testing on Princess, specifically Grand Princess when returning to the San Pedro, CA port near LA. The website says that testing is done on land after you have disembarked the ship and gone through customs, and that PCR test results are available in 60 minutes. Can I trust this for a 2:10 pm flight? I wish they would do the testing on board the ship the day before like Celebrity and other lines do.

Final payment is due next Friday and I'm still struggling with what to do, cruise or cancel.

    Thank you.

    Margo

I've heard reports that it is about an hour for results, but I've also heard (CC or YouTube cannot remember where) that make sure you insist of PCR test. If you don't specify they may just give you an Antigen test.

For what it’s worth… I just got off the phone with NCL reservations and was told my husband would not be allowed to board from a US port if we were travelling this weekend having had an AstraZeneca vaccine in April, followed by Pfizer the end of June and a second Pfizer shot the end of September.  Booked a cruise out of San Juan for January, which I am now cancelling 🤨

Wow, even though he has 2 Pfizer vaccines. What a Cluster***

After my bike and barge was cancelled, I too decided to try the Rocky Mountaineer. I'm off next week to Vancouver. This has been a bucket list item for me for quite some time now.

DW and I just returned from our Grand Rail Circle on Rocky Mountaineer, as @Alberta Quilter mentioned it was wonderful. We had great weather. So glad I spent my vacation $$$ in Canada.

If your interested see my pics Rocky Mountaineer Grand Rail Circle or YouTube video

  5. Mighty Cruise Ships is a Canadian production. It airs in the UK first (not sure why not Canada). I watch all these last year on Sky network I believe, I used VPN software with a UK IP Address. The US doesn't get this until after it airs in Canada.

I'm vacationing within Canada.  The Canadian tourist companies need our help right now and I'm happy to support them.  With the Level 4 advisory against cruising, and the difficulty in getting insurance coverage, there is no way I would consider cruising until that is resolved.  Our next potential cruise is in one year and, as always, we'll evaluate whether we go as we approach final payment.

I'm going on the Rocky Mountaineer next week and, in early October, going to a place we've never been in Alberta but have always wanted to go.  Now is the time to do those types of things.  And we're supporting local (Canadian) businesses.

Us too, we canceled our Cruises and are going on Rocky Mountaineer on Sept 5 to Sept 17th. Grand Rail Circle (Vancouver > Kamloops > Banff > Lake Louise > Jasper > Quesnel > Whistler > Vancouver). So looking forward to it.

  7. Have the cruise lines (fda, cdc...whoever) not defined a time frame between Pfizer (or Moderna) doses? I got AZ as my first then Pfizer as my second. I'm at 63 days since my Pfizer. Even if I get a 3rd right now I don't think it would help me because I'll still be denied travel because of time between two Pfizer shots.

Yes I saw that too but it doesn't mention no mixing of vaccines.

Yes, sorry I was focusing on Apex out of Greece since I'm sure the US will not change there policy anytime soon.

    Celebrity Apex

"Following CDC guidelines, Celebrity will consider a guest fully vaccinated with proof of vaccination that can include mixed doses of the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines. Guests sailing on Celebrity Apex sailing from Athens can have mixed doses that include AstraZeneca as long as the AstraZeneca dose is administered first, and then either the Pfizer or Moderna dose within 8-12 weeks. No other mixed vaccine doses will be accepted."

On the X Healthy at Sea page there used to be an FAQ re vaccines, testing etc.

It doesn't seem to be there anymore.  The main page for Healthy at Sea mentions vaccines at a high level and then the protocols by home port says the following for US cruises.  I can no longer see any of the detailed info re what is allowed re different vaccines.  Is there perhaps a change coming or am I in denial and am refusing to see it lol.

I don't see the FAQ, but under the Heathy at Sea Heading there is a link to this PDF.

Soooooo.....I'm getting incredibly nervous that I will not be able to take my booked cruises this fall as I am "unvaccinated" having gotten the AstraZeneca/Pfizer mix.

I'm not comfortable sneaking somewhere to get a third vaccine.  And I am quickly losing my optimism that this might be sorted out by the time I cruise this fall.

I've heard that the European cruises are allowing our 'mix' of vaccines.

Does anyone have a cruise line or specific cruise that might be good for me to look into?  I'm considering cancelling my north american cruises and booking something in Europe.

Some deets.....I usually cruise solo on Holland America.

Thanks in advance for any insight or advice.

I have the same AZ/Pf mixed vaccine, I'm looking at changing my cruise to Celebrity Apex out of Greece in September. You can see the travel requirement on this link https://www.celebritycruises.com/ca/healthy-at-sea/greece-travel-requirements

The AZ/Pf mix is accepted on this cruise

    Celebrity Cruises Requirements

    • All guests 16 years and older must be fully vaccinated with all COVID-19 vaccine doses administered at least 14 days prior to sailing. As of August 1, 2021, all guests age 12 and older must be fully vaccinated.  Acceptable proof of vaccination must be in the form of the original vaccination record document issued by the country’s health authority or healthcare provider that administered the vaccination. Crew members onboard will be vaccinated.
    • Following CDC guidelines, Celebrity will consider a guest fully vaccinated with proof of vaccination that can include mixed doses of the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines. Guests sailing on Celebrity Apex sailing from Athens can have mixed doses that include AstraZeneca as long as the AstraZeneca dose is administered first, and then either the Pfizer or Moderna dose within 8-12 weeks. No other mixed vaccine doses will be accepted.
    • Celebrity will administer a complimentary antigen test at the terminal to all guests 6 months and older.  On some sailings, unvaccinated children under age 16, and under age 12 beginning August 1st, will be required to take a complimentary PCR test that takes about 40 minutes to complete. .

  11. I thought of driving over to NY from Ottawa (not a far drive) on the 21st of August if it opens. Getting Johnson & Johnson vaccine (I don't know if it's available or if I can get it just a thought right now) and coming back home same day. That would allow me to go on my September 5th. cruise on Oasis. Then I realized it's not worth the risk, will wait and see what comes of this mixed vaccine fiasco.

If things don't sort themselves out I will hope for refund, but even with Royal changing the rules after I made final payment don't have much hope for that.

If I can get refund I will spend my vacation dollars elsewhere. I have other plans I can do instead.

Rocky Mountaineer Grand Rail Circle or Apex in Greece (I think vaccine rules are different in the EU).

Wow!  I agree too judgmental.  Personally, I am 71 and very computer savvy, iphone 10 etc. In fact my Hubby has his own Tech company.   These are tools not a way of life.  Yes, anything has it's evils associated with it, but to each their own.  Now people are arguing over technology....have you all forgotten that like the guns the techno toys don't do anything by themselves.  People do.  The old scripture does not say "Money is the root of all evil"  but rather "The love of money is the root of all evil.  These things are meant to enhance and make our lives easier, not enslave us.  But heck, use them or not, live and let live.  Too much criticism is never good for anybody.

I agree, could not have said it better myself. I especially love it when the anti cell phone comments make their way into a live review, meanwhile they are thanking the poster for photos and comments while onboard.

The ON certificate for the second injection has the language "You have received 2 valid dose(s)". I plan to only have this certificate on my phone, etc. so that there is no confusion with the first dose vaccine being Pfizer and the second Moderna.

That's why I hope they only need the second certificate, since my fist one is AstraZeneca and My second is Pfiser.
