  1. Lots of restaurants are now offering iPad or vending machine ordering system in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean. Convenience stores, supermarket, department stores, public transport,... Point of Systems are multilingual support. The Japanese alphabet is three writing systems that work together: Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. The most commonly used is the Hiragana, which has the simplest character formation and easy to learn.
  2. @john bowtie If you can disembark early and able to take a taxi from Daikoku Pier to Yokohama Station East Exit Bus Terminal (20 min, 6000 yen fare) before 10am, you can catch a highway bus from Yokohama to Disney Resort, bus fare is 1,500 yen . See post #23.
  3. Hank If you see the previous postings, first timer to Japan and will disembark at Daikoku Pier to Disney. The easiest way for them is taxi to Yokohama Station East Exit Bus Terminal (the taxi stand is on SOGO Bldg. B/F), and take the highway bus to Disney Resort (Bus terminal is on SOGO Bldg.1/F) https://www.keikyu-bus.co.jp/en/highway/y-disney/ Adults: 1,500 yen Yokohama station -> Tokyo Disney Resorts runs from 6:45am till 10:45am, 60 min bus ride. Boarding Point: Yokohama Station East Exit Bus Terminal Platform 17 (SOGO 1/F) https://www.yokohamanishiguchi.or.jp/cms-2022/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/nishiguchi2024_0408_ENs.pdf If they missed the last 10:45am departure, the backup plan is Haneda Airport transfer. I don't think Rome2Rio nor Google map have insight into this route.๐Ÿ˜œ
  4. Only JR Ueno Tokyo Line takes you from Yokohama station to Tokyo Station without transfer Rome2Rio doesn't provide travel details.! Use Google Map. Maihama is a train station name not a train line name. The Line is Keiyo Line. Reasons why I seldom recommend using train to Disney: 1. Tokyo transit isnโ€™t optimized for carrying a lot of stuff, avoid bringing large suitcase inside the subway or a commuter train during rush hours (roughly 7:30 to 9:30, depending on the lines). It would be a gigantic inconvenience for self and others. 2. Tokyo Station was really crowded and the Keiyo Line platform (to Disney) is too far and further underground from Tokyo Station. it can be quite inconvenient to transfer. 3. If you are not staying at a Disney hotel, need taxi ride to non-Disney hotels after exit Maihama Station. 4. Airport bus stop at most Disney area hotel main entrance.
  5. https://www.yokohamajapan.com/cruise/terminal/Yokohama Map For Cruise Passengers.pdf Taxi from Daikoku Pier to Yokohama City Air Terminal (YCAT), Keikyu Airport Bus to Haneda Airport (Terminal 2). https://www.keikyu-bus.co.jp/en/airport/h-yokohama/ Haneda Airport (Terminal 2) to Tokyo Disney Resort https://www.keikyu-bus.co.jp/en/airport/h-disney/
  6. https://www.yokohamajapan.com/cruise/terminal/Yokohama Map For Cruise Passengers.pdf Option 1: Taxi from Daikoku Pier to Yokohama City Air Terminal (YCAT), then Keikyu Airport Bus to Haneda Airport. https://www.keikyu-bus.co.jp/en/airport/h-yokohama/ Option 2: Yokohama City more likely will run a free shuttle service on embarkation day from Daikoku Pier to Yamashita-futo [Yamashita Pier]. a) Walk 1000 feet to Yamashita Park or Yokohama doll Museum Keikyu Airport Bus stop, take the Keikyu Airport Bus to Haneda Airport. https://www.keikyu-bus.co.jp/en/airport/h-yamashita/ b) Walk 1500 feet to metro Motonachi-Chukagai Station, take Minatomiral Line to Yokohama Station, transfer to Keikyu Main/Airport Line, take Limited Express Haneda Airport to Haneda Airport.
  7. Yokohama Port authority only released cruise ship schedule till September. But more likely will be at Daikoku Wharf (Spectrum of the Seas will dock there on 19th September)
  8. The Dam Market stores not put prices on items and require you to ask the price of each item you like. If you don't haggle, they will rob you blind.
  9. Raema, My August sailing will stop at Nagasaki Nagasaki is a hilly city, if you plan to visit Glover Garden, take the sky road (escalator ride) to the garden's top of the hill entrance, your walk will be downhill. Sakura Season in March, lots of photo shoot. Michael
  10. How to activate Suica Welcome card: 1. Simply tap your card onto the automatic ticket gate. 2. Activate the card at a ticket vending machine or a multifunction ticket vending machine. 3. If you have any difficulty with the process, tell a ticket gate staff member you'd like to activate your pass. /https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/downloads/pdf/welcomesuica_e.pdf
  11. The tour itinerary will specify what is included. In general, Transportation fees, Entrance fees, Lunch, and Other personal expenses are not included. Most garden admission offer seniors [65+] discount, and must show your passport. Japan escorted tours are expensive, supply and demand determine the price. If one who are a bit adventurous, and willing to do a little homework, then the cost is lesser.
  12. Edomachi is a district in Nagasaki city, where Dejima (old Dutch trading post) was. A good restaurant in Edomachi - Steak Keiten Steak and Beef Cutlet in Edomachi, Nagasaki [Keiten] ~ Lunch Refugee's Journey ~ (with subtitles) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMUKNxGxLxY Michael
  13. Hong Kong is small, distance to TST area is under 8 miles, taxi fare is inexpensive. The common issues riding HK taxi are trunk space, language barrier, and taking 'the long way round' on a journey. Do the homework, not a challenge for any first timer to Hong Kong.
  14. Taxi from Kai Tak cruise terminal to Langham TST is 11 km travel, The taxi LPG tank may limit the trunk space but there are 6 seater taxi available. Luggage charge is HK$6/piece. https://www.td.gov.hk/en/transport_in_hong_kong/public_transport/taxi/taxi_fare_of_hong_kong/index.html
  15. I was in Kyoto several times, will visit again in August. If you stay at Hotel Granvia Kyoto in Kyoto station which is a mini city, all your amenities are indoor or underground, short walking distance. Will your cruise ship dock at Kobe? Returning from Kyoto to Kobe is easier than Osaka, Shin-Kobe station is 2 miles to cruise terminal. The Shin-Osaka station is large and complex, 10 miles from Osaka cruise terminal. All Shinkansen stations have taxi stands, but you must know the nearest EXIT.
