Princess has a huge mark-up on the California wines (I didn't check all the wines offered). Total Wine has the Woodbridge White Zin for $4.99, the Chardonnay is $6.79, and the Merlot is also $6.79. The Rex-Goliath Moscato is $4.49 and the Spellbound Petite Sirah is $12.99. The only one of these that I would even consider drinking is the Spellbound, but since Princess is selling that for $38.00, I could bring it on the ship myself, pay the corkage, and still save over $10.00. BTW, the Raley's and the CVS by our house often have sales on the Woodbridge and the Rex-Goliath for $2.99 a bottle. I don't know who is buying the California wines for Princess, but they could have picked something a little nicer. It's not like California has a wine shortage. Even low-end Beringer would have been a better choice.

Thanks Brian for posting a current list; I "intended" to copy our's from the Royal in October but never did it. :o

We had the Gold wine package & discovered another favorite Italian wine...Barolo. Checking Total Wine at home discovered that it's as expensive as Brunello di Montalcino & we enjoy both types very much. :)

I ended up taking photos of the wine list in the Platinum/Elite/Suite disembarkation lounge while waiting for our group to be called. We brought our own wine on board and didn't buy any off the wine list.

With the increase in low end wine prices there are only 2 reds at $27, 3 reds at $28 and 7 reds at $29. It is good that with the Silver package you can pay the difference to get wines greater than $29. With the price increases it is usually better for us to bring wine on board and pay the $15 corkage rather than buy on board. Of course we drink wines that are under $35 on the Princess wine list.

  • 3 weeks later...

On our cruise several weeks ago, we had the Estancia Meritage Reserve ($39). On Monday, I noticed the same bottle at Trader Joe's. 581df5fd233603e58208ac687a42c6a5.jpg

There are some really fair prices on Princess' wine list.

But we can only bring one bottle on board???

I was on a Carnival where a case was broad (a group) and they paid corkage fee on each bottle. But if Princess only lets us bring on one??

I'm sailing Feb 2016 just planning ahead.

You can bring one bottle per passenger of drinking age that is corkage free if consumed in your cabin. Additional bottles are charged a $15 corkage no matter where consumed. Edited by IECalCruiser
