What do people do when they return to Port Everglades in the morning and have a late

Recommended Posts

We need to kill sometime after we disembark our ship and catch a late flight home. We are leaving Port Everglades. Can we get a rental car at the port, or do we need to take a taxi or Uber to a car rental place to get one?

In the FAQ, there was mention of a service where you can leave your luggage outside your door the night before and it will be taken and put on your plane. Does that still exist? Is there a link to a website to set that up?

There are several rental car agencies near the port that have free shuttles to/from the cruise terminals. We use Avis in the Pier 66 hotel, and there are others, here's a list I've seen:

Hertz from Crown Plaza Hotel

Avis from Pier 66

Budget on 17th in shopping center next to Renaissance Hotel

Sixt further up 17th.

Thrifty/Dollar just out western port exit.

The ship should offer Luggage Valet around midway through the cruise. You fill out a form and return it to Guest Services. If you're on Southwest, the latest flight you can use is 6pm.

Hello, your talking about Luggage Valet. Check with RCCL and see if it is available on your cruise.

Taxi to Airport terminal 1 and rental car agencies in building across from there. Book way ahead and have a car reserved

Hope this helps

Our flight on Southwest doesn't leave until 10 pm or something like that. I've been looking into a day rates at hotels. There's also luggage storage at the airport, but you have to pick it up by 5:30pm. I think we may do a day rate hotel, then hang our Fort Lauderdale until 6 or 7 than head to the airport. I haven't done all the research yet, but if you google day rates for Ft Lauderdale hotels you will find info. Also google luggage storage at FLL and you'll find stuff.

Do an excursion.

That is a choice and the quality of them vary. We have done the Everglades airport ride twice, and at it is ok, good picture taking opportunities. We have done a South Beach bus tour that at least it was air conditioned and they kept your bags on the bus.

So if your flight is on Southwest and it leaves at 6:00 PM you can use the service?

We've actually been approved for LV with a 6:20pm flight on Southwest. The Guest Service agent said there is 'no hurt in trying' so we did and got it. The last time we had a late flight, we Ubered to Margaritaville Hollywood Beach, walked the beach an had lunch. We've also Ubered up to Las Olas in the past for Sunday brunch at American Social.

We have a 250pm SW flight and will do the Everglades excursion with drop off at Ft Lauderdale airport. I think it is 4th-5th time doing this or the City tour after a cruise but a good way to kill time , luggage is with you , and right to the airport. Hate to have to sit in the SW area of the FLL airport for any period of time!
