Law against cookouts on HAL ?

That poster apparently did work for HAL, and seems to have a grudge. His/her analysis is correct, however, it merely requires proper equipment to be able to do outdoor dining on the ships. I won't comment on why HAL does not deem it necessary to have the cookouts.

I suspect it may take awhile to get the equipment and train the crew in the use an maintenance of the new equipment. Might have to arrange for some inspections as well. This isn't like going to Home Depot and buying a Weber. That said, I wasn't that impressed with the BBQ on Westerdam in 2016.

No training necessary, since the whole problem comes with meeting USPH/CDC sanitation requirements, which the crew are trained on already. USPH tends to treat all food handling equipment equally, regardless of where it is located. One of the big requirements is to have a handwashing station for food handlers within 8 meters of the work location. This means a portable handwashing station for these outdoor venues, which is a common and not complicated item.

So I guess they were in violation of some type of food law that HAL won't cross. or is it just another cost cutting measure excuse by HAL to take the "FUN" out of cruising

Where did you get the idea that lido cookouts are against the law?

i agree with you. We rarely ate at the cookouts as I also saw it as a step down.

I have been cruising HAL for a long time (over 20 years) and I don't ever remember having a outdoor cook out on the Lido deck (I have never cruised Alaska; I have seen references to a salmon cook out on those cruises).

Why would they? I certainly don't cruise to do a cook out with basic food stuff that I can do any night at home.

This seems to be just one more attempt to denigrate

the cruise experience on HAL. Perhaps there will be a new thread wondering why there isn't blasting pool music to add to the fun of cruising.

Read Post #29 "Law versus Regulations" ???? Put any name you want on this "dog"

That still doesn't explain where you heard lido cookouts are illegal, as you said in your original post. I'm curious what led you to that assumption.
