How much space do Veendam upper bunks take when not in use?

We are looking at ocean view cabins on the Veendam that have a sofa and upper berth. It is only two of us, so we will not be using the upper. On most of the newer ships we have been on, the upper retracts into the ceiling and it is flush with the ceiling. We have seen older ships where the bunks fold against the wall and stick out up to a foot. We have also seen ships where the bunks raise up to the ceiling, but stick down several inches or more. How is the Veendam upper configured? Is the upper bunk over the bed(s) or the sofa?

The upper bed will be over the twin beds, where it will either fold against the wall, or be raised to the ceiling (I can't remember precisely which it is). I do remember, however, that it will either stick down, or out, about 4".

It truly is out of the way unless the bed is set as a queen, and the person on that side is very, very tall.
