Cruising on the Freedom in March with a group of family. Hubby is already sold on the CHEERS program. He will for sure drink his 15 drinks a day. I, on the other hand, won't even come close. Even with me not being a drinker it still makes sense for us to do this.

My question involves sharing. Can you buy a drink for someone else on this program? If I ask for a drink, show my S & S card, then give the drink to my mom are they goigng to say anything? I realize we could be sneaky and do this, but I am wondering how sneaky we would have to be.

I am very much a follow the rules person and if the drinks were unlimited I would not do this, but because I get 15 drinks a day I don't see why I couldn't "buy" a drink for my mom (like I would even if I was paying cash) ya know? If this is totally unacceptable, would it confuse the waiters to actually buy her a drink, before my 15 max is reached? I am trying to decide if it makes sense for us to buy her the unlimited drink package too or if we could essentially split one.

I am sure I am way overthinking this (as I tend to do) but like I said before I like to know the rules before I go into something. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks!

Why stop with your mom?

If you go into a buffet you and hubby and your mom do you buy two dinners and have her eat off your plate?

The drinks are for your consumption only.

Thanks for the response but it really didn't answer any of my questions. I was asking for someone with experience on this

He obviously wasn't able to comprehend the question. If the rules for this program are the same as the original bar card, then yes, you can buy drinks for fellow cheers purchasers... I once bought over 30 drinks in one round with my card... We all had the bar card....

I'm usually on the side of the company in matters like this, customer service versus people taking advantage. However, this time I kind of see her point. It's not a buffet. It's not all you can drink. It's 15 drinks per day.
I don't think I'd do it, but I understand where she is coming from.

Lol - I am playing the kill 'em with kindness card. I had this relaly snarky reply typed up, but deleted it because my point was obviously missed and life's too short for such a negative attitude.

I really don't mind simply buying my mom a drink every day, which is what she will probbaly consume, but would think the servers will just put it on my S/S card anyway under the cheers program? I was really just wanting to know if anyone had some experience with this. We are debating buying the program for her any way and encouraging her to consume lots of drinks. My stepdad passed away in Nov leaving her with 3 teenagers and as you can imagine her life has been hell for the past few months, so 15 drinks a day might do her some good or might help her meet a sugar daddy lol!!

Thanks for your completely useless reply.... You should concentrate more on reading the actual question rather than thinking up some smart ass reply... And in addition, if two paying customers are at a buffet, why the hell wouldn't you be able to share???

No, you can not buy drinks for anyone else. We were just on the Breeze last week. If they catch you sharing drinks or giving your drink to anyone else, they can suspend you from the program with no refunds. It is right on the rules card.

What people dont realize is that this is not a 15 drink coupon card. It is a bar card for the buyer only and the max is 15 alcoholic drinks. The number crunchers who set the price for this do it from a formula. They have some average number of drinks in mind that the average person will drink (some will be higher, some will be lower). Thus the price point. If it was meant to sell the full 15 drinks per day, they would include coupons for you to use each day.

I think it is fine since it is not unlimited. These are your 15 drinks and I feel you can give them to whomever you want. Once the 15 drink limit has been reached then you will have to pay. So if you are buying several people drinks then soon you will end up having to pay. My hubby gave a lady a drink when we were at the pool. He wanted her to try the Miami Vice so he got her one. Actually sold her on the program for her next cruise. So we were actually promoting the program!

As I don't have first hand knowledge of the cheers program yet... I can only go by what I know of the previous program. What you say is true, if the person you are wanting to buy for didn't buy the program also... That of course would be wrong. But if a husband and a wife both have the card, I'm pretty sure one person can buy two drinks while the other sits at the table.... That's how it was before.... Just like one person could buy a bottle of wine for an entire table, as long as all people at the table bought the bar card....

Maybe the two programs are completely different... I look forward to finding out myself on the miracle this August, unless they offer it on the inspiration before my march 4 cruise..

No, if you read the rules card that they give you, it clearly states there is no sharing of drinks and if you are caught, they will suspend you from the program and offer no refunds. I was there when my sons bought the card last week and it was clearly explained that it is your card only--no sharing or giving drinks to anyone.

I also usually get the drinks on us card at the casino, and believe me-i have more that paid for that with my play--but they warn you several times when giving it to you that there is NO buying/giving anyone else a drink, no sharing etc. They will take your card away and you will not get anything for it.

People should not be telling others that they can buy others drinks if you have not bought the cheers program--I would hate to see someone lose their card they paid a fortune for based on anonymous advice. When you get on board and buy the card--just ask the people selling it--or look at all the rules on the card they give you for it.

This might have already been covered elsewhere, forgive me if it has...but with the Cheers program, does that include your drinks on Half Moon Cay? I thought I had read somewhere that this was a recent addition - can anybody confirm? Thanks!

Yes, I beleive you can show both the cards to get each of you a drink if you both bought the program. But what the OP is asking (and many others) is can you buy a non cheers person a drink with your card (using your 15 drink limit under the cheers program)--that is not allowed.

Now, can people get away with it if you take it away from the server and hand it to someone out of sight--sure, but you are taking the chance of getting caught and having your cheers card suspended with no refund of your costs at all.

here are the rules from Carnival.com--read the 4th bullet down--pretty clear--the rules cards on board have even more details.

The following restrictions apply:

· Guests must purchase the program for the entire cruise - this program is not offered on a per day basis.

· Guests must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol on Carnival ships.

· Each adult (21 years or older) assigned to the same stateroom must purchase the program.

· Only one drink at a time may be ordered. No sharing is permitted.********Here is your answer*******

· Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used within US waters.

· Carnival reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.

· Program is non-refundable.

It states very clearly on the Carnival website that you are not to "share" your drinks in the Cheers program. I have no personal experience so cannot say whether or not the staff would say anything if you tried to share with your mom.

Thank you! I think we will just try and have them charge us for her drinks seperate if possible, or trying to convine her to drink a lot more and buy her the program. I am not interested in breaking the rules or cheating the system. I guess I thought it was more of a 15 drink a day coupon card, which someone pointed out was not the case.
