Emerald princess or crown princess?

Recommended Posts

I see the Emerald schedule from Feb 19 to our cruise is as follows:

Hawaiian Islands 15 days beginning 24 Feb

Hawaiian Islands 15 days beginning 11 Mar

Pacific Coastal 3 days beginning 26 Mar

Nothing scheduled 29 Mar to 10 Apr (13 days)

then Vancover to LA/Ft Lauderdale beginning 11 Apr 19

Looks like the Emerald will be in dry dock in Victoria during the gap in her cruise schedule. I googled the topic but nothing substantial came up, but it fits that she would be dry docked about that time for normal upkeep.

Hope we can reap the benefits of a good refit with new carpet and better furniture etc.

You may want to factor that into your decision making.

Crown had a drydock in April 2018, she now has a salty dog grill and coffee and cones on the Lido deck

We were on the Crown in the Med last month, saw new carpeting in most of the common areas as well as that wonderful comfy bedding!

We were on the Crown before the refurbishment and really had a great time! The staff was wonderful, the food good and the ship seemed in good shape to us. We were worried as I know some people really don't like the Crown but our recent experience was really good.

Fully agree with this poster. We were on the Crown last fall and it became our new favorite ship! :D

We'll be on it again in August--- Can't wait to see the new things!

We also were on the Emerald a few years back and would book it again also, but just really enjoyed the Crown more for some reason.

Not a huge fan of Emerald, did two cruises in short order on a Diamond and Emerald, pretty similar in terms of public space but a Emerald jams in a few hundred extra PAX, we certainly noticed a big difference.

It's reassuring to read this thread. We are booked on our first ever cruise in September on the Crown and have been reading everything we can to get familiar and be informed. There have been quite a number of recent reviews of the Crown since drydock that aren't very favorable. It's making us a little nervous, but it's nice to read here from seasoned cruisers that the Crown is a good choice. So excited to get onboard !!!!
