Help!-Westerdam Upgrade-Did I do the Right Thing?

I had book a January sailing on the Westerdam (first time on that ship) with an on-line agency. The booking was for a Cat H (outside , obstructed view). I checked on line and saw that the price had dropped $100 for the same thing so I called to ask for the discount. I was told instead that for the original price HAL would give me a 6 category upgrade to a DD outside cabin with no obstruction. I accepted. Is this a 6 category upgrade? All this category stuff is Greek to me. Was this a good upgrade for the $100 each for DW and me?

Did they refuse to honor the lower price and your only option was the "upgrade"?, if so the unobstructed view is certainly better than paying the same price for a cabin with an obstructed view.

 

Our TA, has always been able to secure us the lower price when we have seen them. I wonder if "HAL" wouldn't honor the deal or your TA didn't want to lower their commision fee base.

So you are saying that you went from an H to a D???

 

What is your new cabin number??

I think the upgrade was to a "DD". The cabin is on the Main Deck but no specific cabin number was assigned. HAL would have honored the lower price but offered the "upgrade" for the original price.

So the question to you is....Is having an unobstructed view worth $100.00? If it is, you made a great decision.
