Thanks... I can't remember the name of the store but it is at the far end of Creek Street in Ketchikan. You can sample and buy. My house sitters always love this gift :D There is also a store right on the waterfront in Juneau but I haven't bought anything there.....
ottawa_traveler Posted September 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2009 You can't really miss them, they are at least 3 or 4 very close to the dock. They have stacks and stacks of all the brands of local salmon. We bought ours directly from our tour operator in Ketchikan, as they had a private label brand done by one of the local canneries. There is also a store called Sam McGees. It is on Creek St., and they sell salmon, other Alaskan food products, and high-quality ulus. Very knowledgeable staff and lots of samples available. notes4theheart Posted September 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2009 Taku Smokehouse in Juneau. It's just past the tram on the dock. They let you watch them filet, salt, smoke and package AND let you taste their product right in the store so you know what you're buying. Yummy!! We brought home several jars.
