i have sailed on regent although it then was raddison; 5 times although last trip was 7 years ago and i almost exclusively travel on Silversea now. why? price, regents prices are way too high; if they spent less on mailings they could drop their prices dramatically; i get at least 3 or 4 vey glossy and expensive brochures almos on a weekly basis.

I agree on the mailing issue but I cannot agree on the price comparison.

If you want to compare price do it on similar cabins and price it on a daily basis. Veranda suite vs Veranda suite. Consider the air allowance and free excursions on Regent, and on a daily basis Regent is significantly less expensive than Silver Sea on similar itineraries.

I agree with San Jose King. Comparisons that I have made indicate that Regent is usually less (not more) than Silversea. I thought our recent Baltic cruise was a relative bargain when one factors in the free excursions, which were excellent.

In addition, I think Regent has cut back on sending brochures. Most that I've received lately from Regent have been about PG cruises, and those will soon be history. In fact, I just received another Silversea brochure today about European/Med. cruises for 2010.
