**If I ran Carnival Cruise Lines, I would...**

Lazy river would be awesome!

More hot tubs - or less kids in them

Enforce adult only areas

Offer private island on more itineraries

Hammocks

More live music

Would really like to see Carnival give a new designer a chance - what's wrong with designing a ship that has a tropical motiff? Love the Princess pool areas.

Turn down the air conditioning at night in the public rooms.

Soda cards are fine, but don't make me feel like a bother when I use it.

Hot items from room service

Not have all the fun activities all on the first sea day, at the same time, but rather repeat some of the more popular ones on other sea days. My boyfriend and I missed some we wanted (ice carving, game show, music) to see the first day chosing to relax instead thinking they would be offered again on the next sea day.. only about half were offered and we were bored! Plus then they might not be as crowded :)

Make the DOD the DOH.. drink of the hour.. That's only 7 different drinks on a 7day..come on.. keep up with me!!! :D

DOH is a great idea! I would keep up, as long as they are not too fruity...kinda gives me heartburn:(

Another idea I have for CCL is to implement an adults only area. NO KIDS allowed at all (without it being topless:o)

Offer activities for the 18 to 21 age group since they are too old for the kids activities but too young to drink in the bars. At least do this at the beginning to give them the opportunity to meet each other more easily.

Also, offer FREE wi-fi. There is no reason there should be a charge for internet anymore!

Ditto to both of your suggestions.

1. Replace Progresso with Key West or Calica (Playa de Carmen) on itineraries originating from Galveston/New Orleans/Mobile. Surely it would save money for the ships to make the short hop across from Cozumel to Calica, rather than going all the way up to Progresso. It would seem that they could sell more excursions in Calica than in Progresso also. Key West would be my preference though.

2. Replace Freeport with Half Moon Cay on the Conquest's Eastern itinerary.

3. Add Cuba to some inieraries when the country is open to Americans.

4. Implement a better photo system.

5. Drop the drinking age to 18 in international waters, or provide more activities for people 18 - 21.

6. Revise the "Legends" show - How is Ricky Martin a legend??? He only had two hits and those were years ago!

LMAO!! how true!

Appease both the smokers and the non-smokers:

Make one side of the ship non-smoking only and the other side of the ship smoking optional. Then people have the option of getting a smoke-free room and/or balcony or having a room where they can smoke in the room. It isn't that hard to implement and I think would decrease the complaints from both sides.

Increase the price of the alcoholic drinks and decrease the price of the soda package. Right now, the soda package prices itself out of a lot of passengers. You can increase the number of takers by decreasing the price slightly (say $5 per day?). You can increase the price of the alcoholic drinks slightly to ensure that you still make a profit without actually decreasing the consumption that much and this would still work for the bottom line.

Enforce the chair hog rule. Once per hour, have an attendant sweep the pool deck and remove any towels left on unoccupied chairs.

Why on earth would you increase the booze prices? madfist.gif

and I thought there was some poll somewhere (maybe on facebook) to see what people thought about including the drink prices in the cruise price. I think people commented that it was too much money to do it like that

It will just lead to more people bringing their own on board.

Carnival does have an adult only area on some ships. It is called Serenity. It is on all the Fantasy class ships with the exception of the Fascination which is getting it this month and the beginning of February. The Freedom, Splendor, and the Dream have the Serenity area too.

I have read about those areas...I guess what I was after was a part of the ship with full services (more than a button to push when you need another umbrella drink)...

Anyways, I thought those Serenity areas were only restricting hot tub use...I am happy to hear that the entire area is restricted:)

One, there will be a little loss in revenue due to decreasing the soda prices and if I really were running Carnival, I wouldn't want to decrease the revenue. It's the change to compensate for lowering the drink prices a little. You'd have to know how much profit they generate for sodas and alcohol to know how much to adjust the alcohol prices to compensate for lowering the soda prices.

Sorry...if the idea were just "what would I do to make Carnival cruising better..." then I'd just lower the soda prices. However, the thread was "if I ran Carnival, I would..." and just lowering the soda prices without something to compensate means that I would probably not be running Carnival very long...

#3. has been in the plans for more than 30 years. Every 2 or 3 years there are stories that Cuba is going to open up soon. Again just recently, but those stories have gone dormant again. Cuba has a non-American cruise industry calling there now, and has for many years. IF it ever opens, all the lines are ready.

#5. the drinking age was raised due to problems with the younger crowd. Not only has Carnival raised the age, they have eliminated the 18-21 year olds as a target market. CCL would not care if they sailed without any 18-21's aboard. CCL eliminated the "Party Boat" idea more than 20 years ago and are still getting grief from those days.

#6. is ANY entertainer a "LEGEND?":D

And some, including me, think both Progreso and Merida are terrific.

I dont think they were called Serenity areas. The Pride had an adult only pool and hot tub like you mentioned but there were still kids in the area

Looking forward to the serenity areas on the Freedom and Fascination this summer!

The second part of my suggestion said "or provide more activities for people 18-21"...families with members that age can't just leave them at home because there is nothing for them to do. I know they can gamble in the casino, but most young adults don't have the money to do much of that. Their cruise fares are as much as anyone else's, but I would be willing to bet that age group enjoys their cruises less than anyone else. People under 21 can't sail alone anyway, so they would be coming on with families. Lowering the drinking age wouldn't necessarily mean a swarm of unsupervised 18 year olds would be hitting the bars. I'm reasonably sure that the cruiselines lose some business to other vacation options because of family members in that age bracket saying "I don't want to cruise again...it was boring last time." As I think a previous poster suggested, at the very least they should have a meet and greet for that age group early in the trip.

And some, including me, think both Progreso and Merida are terrific. I would also be willing to bet that passenger polls would show the majority would rather go to Key West or Calica than Progresso.

Fire Joe Farcus. I'm sorry, but outrageous acid-inspired decor has run its course, IMHO. Would like to see something more "nautical" and less "Vegas" for a change.

Build more SPIRIT-classed ships. I know, I know, the economics of size won't ever allow this to happen, but its a wish.

FREE wifi throughout the ship. Starbucks, O'Hare Airport, all the major hotels have it. C'mon Carnival get going. Announcing this in all your advertisements would absolutely HERD cruisers from other lines to look at you.

LA up the Pacific Coast itinerary, although before an "accidental" cruise would make an a good occasional itinerary.

I don't drink soda but that seems like a good idea....

I agree with the chairs...I hate chair hogs...usually i watch 2 chairs for 20 mins....if no one come back I move their things....sorry doesn't take that long to go anywhere :-P

Bring back the topless optional areas

Regular Panama Canal (go through) routes like NCL does

Pony up some cash for rebuilding ports that are destroyed by hurricanes (Costa Maya has potential but looks so bad you want to stay onboard)

Run special "surprise" cruises in which you do not know where you are going until you get there!!

Bring back the topless optional areas

Build more Spirit class type deck plans

Yes, I put bring back topless twice - once for wifey and once for me!! Serinity just ain't the same with all the music, people and sometimes kids.
