bhrm Posted November 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Trying to keep costs down and fun up. I have my own snorkel gear (but no vest).
Mary Ellen1 Posted November 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Off the top of my head I can come up with 10: 1. Snorkeling 2. Swimming 3. Sunning 4. Relaxing 5. Reading a good book 6. Exploring the beach 7. Dancing to the tunes of the steel band 8. Lunch (basic beverages are included – water, iced tea, etc.) 9. Browsing through the Princess shop 10. Browsing through the local Bahama market I think I'll be doing all of the above... Next Monday! Can't wait. Mary Ellen

There are chairs and hammocks furnished free and you bring your blue/white beach towel with you from your cabin.
Woodmnky Posted November 17, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2009 We bring our own gear to snorkel at Princess Cays as well. You are not required to wear a vest. If you wanted to rent just a vest, I am unsure of the cost. We have been to Princess Cays several times and the only time that we have spent money was on a magnet for our collection at home. Enjoy the free beach day.
juggles Posted November 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2009 I just loved Princess Cays, having a beer or two, relaxing on a sun bed, having a free lunch, the food so good and a vast choice. swimming.......magic
TwinCruiserMom Posted November 17, 2009 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2009 We rarely spend any money at Princess Cays. We have our own snorkel gear and the food is free :) We bring our own water bottles onshore and then refill at the ice water stations. This is truly a beautiful spot where you can relax or be active, whichever you choose.
lake5298 Posted November 17, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Don't forget my favourite..... Relaxing on an almost completely empty cruise ship and enjoying the fantastic view :D
Times Prince Posted November 17, 2009 #8 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Our preference is snorkelling as we have our own gear. Relaxing, eating fruit, "sightseeing" (it's a beach, after all!), getting photo taken
billet Posted November 17, 2009 #9 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Along with MaryEllen's 10, which could be in any order, a walk to either end of the beach is a pleasant way to burn off the calories and prepare for the next feeding frenzy. Colo Cruiser Posted November 17, 2009 #11 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Thanks everyone! Is it easy to get on and off the ship any time I want? Or its better to bring all my stuff for the whole day? I would plan on the day when you leave, it goes fast. :)
LarryL Posted November 17, 2009 #12 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Thanks everyone! Is it easy to get on and off the ship any time I want? Or its better to bring all my stuff for the whole day? It's busy right away and then slows after the initial rush. However, if you want to get a good beach location for the day you may want to be early to the cited assembly location (Princess Theater). I think once you get off the ship and get into doing things the day goes pretty fast and you may rethink breaking up your day to go back to the ship and return. We didn't participate but I think the CD staff has activities going also, like beach volleyball. I'm sure someone on these boards can add to this. Have fun.. Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted November 17, 2009 #13 Share Posted November 17, 2009 I have a fold up travel kite that's been all over the world with me. Princess Cays has some of the best kite flying anywhere. I go down to the north end of the beach, past the pier, so I'm not hitting people in the face as I try to launch it. billet Posted November 17, 2009 #14 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Since you tender in to Princess Cays it is not that convenient to return to the ship halfway through the day. I would take everything with you.
flintg Posted November 19, 2009 #15 Share Posted November 19, 2009 I just loved Princess Cays, having a beer or two, relaxing on a sun bed, having a free lunch, the food so good and a vast choice. swimming.......magic My wife and I will be in Princess Cays in April. The free lunch and a few beers sounds great! One of the medications I take forbids me to be in the sun for more then a few minutes. Is there plenty of shade available? I have what they call a clam shell reserved but don't know how much protection they provide. Any suggestions are appreciated!:)

I'm not into sunbathing, so we just find a couple of chairs under a palapa, and we're fine. Depending on how late you get there, you may have to go a little further down the beach to find a shady area that's not already occupied. There are also some covered shady areas with picnic tables, near the bar area & near where they serve lunch. Have fun! Mary Ellen
