DP Posted November 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2009 On this ship do all adjoining cabins still have a couch. Is the door always at the bottom of the bed for Cat D1 staterooms?
xcell Posted November 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2009 OUr room had a couch (hide-a-way bed) and the door was at the base of the bed, right beside the TV (they really should get LCD rather than those clunky CRT).
DP Posted November 22, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Thanks, I hope our room (6236) will have a couch.
Homebody Posted November 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2009 We were just on the Explorer (twin to the AOS) and had an adjoining D-1 8362. We did not have a couch, just a chair, and the door was next to the head of the bed. We did not choose to have an adjoining cabin (that was our draw in the guarantee, assigned the day before sailing so no chance to switch) We had HORRIBLE neighbors. Loud...... TV blasting at 7am, fighting at midnight, chain smoking in the cabin...smoke came right through the door our room smelled like the casino. Yes we called Guest Services, they did what they could, but I will NEVER take an adjoining again.

There is a non-smoking policy in the cabins , why was this allowed to continue?
Homebody Posted November 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Guest Services called them and gave them a warning, then called us and asked us to let them know if they continued and they would have security go to the room. For the most part they stopped smoking in the room, but smoked constantly on the balcony with the slider open so some smoke would filter back into their room. We think that they still smoked in there sometimes especially in the early am, because we'd wake up to the smell, but weren't sure enough to call. Smoking was bad enough but the worst was their loudness. They would blast the TV at 7am some days. They were with a group that had about 5 cabins in a row and of course they would congregate in that room . The last night they had a loud fight (at midnight) about one not leaving the other room in the suitcase. (seems like two women were sharing the room, or at least two women were fighting about the suitcase lol) I could not believe how much sound came through that door! xcell Posted November 22, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 22, 2009 I guess we had a couch because we had three people in the room. If your room has a triangle on the map, then I guess it can accomodate 3 or 4 people (ie. couch). My adjoing room neighbors were my parents and my dad snores LOUDLY but honestly, either I was too tired to hear him or the door was thick enough. It was a heavy door...
