bajathree Posted November 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2009 I am watching the live cam of Oasis pulling out and see that the front Port lifeboat is missing....I knew that must of been one of the ones that got damaged.

TEXASMUNK Posted November 27, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 27, 2009 Would have to guess it is under repair and she will not depart port with insufficient lifeboat capaiblity. Can't wait for some Diamond Plus to post that it was their lifeboat and this is just another cut back by RCI to ruin their cruise!

Just noticed you are going on the Jewel next year. We did the 8-day Eastern from FLL in 2006, and it really is a beautiful and well-maintained ship! (Only drawback was the two-row multi-family Chair Hog group!) I know it was a few years ago, but the four of us had a wonderful time, and I'm sure you'll enjoy this beautiful ship! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

According to Adam Goldstein, they just couldn't afford that lifeboat. :( He says it's not a big deal. He figures enough people know how to swim and tread water that they'll be fine without a lifeboat. Anyways, they've got that submarine under the hull that could substitute for the lifeboat.

PhoenixCruiser Posted November 28, 2009 #13 Share Posted November 28, 2009 it will be listed on Ebay very soon! Too funny :p That lifeboat was damaged during the crossing and since the Oasis is not sailing at full capacity until next month everyone is safe! ###

Pumbaamd Posted November 28, 2009 #17 Share Posted November 28, 2009 We are on that first revenue cruise, 12/1, that is very full. That missing craft will shorelly be back for us. No worries, there are many, many inflatables available that are not visible. Actually, if you are D+, there is one under your bed.

Actually that is the new 'water bed' feature only for D+ passengers, you will also find a long hose that can be attached to the bathroom taps. Its just a case of dragging it out and plugging it in (honest I wouldnt tell you any fibs) lol...:D
aqhacruiser Posted November 28, 2009 #20 Share Posted November 28, 2009 Looking at the photos it seems there aren't enough lifeboats for over 6000 passengers and crew! None of the ships have enough life boats on them for passengers. There are life rafts in cannisters by the bow that would be deployed in an evac. (with any luck:)) Rule of thumb is if you do muster out on deck you are assigned a boat located at your station, if you do muster in dining room or other location you are a raft person and have no boat:D
bajathree Posted November 28, 2009 Author #21 Share Posted November 28, 2009 I just found a starboard pix from last night and the forward lifeboat on that side is missing also http://oasisoftheseasdepartingfll.shutterfly.com/27#
tip Posted November 28, 2009 #22 Share Posted November 28, 2009 Not to worry. The "missing" lifeboats will be towed behind the ship and will now be designated smoking areas.;)

MS "Oasis of the Seas" has a total of 18 lifeboats, they are 9 on each side of the ship. RCI states they hold 372 persons each of which 16 are the lifeboat crew and the remaining 356 are passengers. So with all the 18 lifeboats filled they can evacuate a total of 6408 passengers. Typically, the rafts are for the remaining crew.
