BosoxI Posted December 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2009 On a recent TA we lost satellite coverage for a day or two. Can someone tell me the likliehood of that occurring between Hawaii and the West Coast and Tahiti and the coast of both continents. I suspect it would be even more likely. We just returned from a 30 day cruise from Sydney to LA covering all the area you are asking about and we had coverage everyday with our laptop. There were a few downtimes, but never for more than a couple hours. I was able to keep up with my blog and even post pictures.
BosoxI Posted December 5, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted December 5, 2009 That's great news, thanks. Now I just have to hope for the same weather conditions. :)
Toto2Kansas Posted December 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2009 We just sailed from Hawaii to Tahiti and around Tahiti for 21 days. I can't remember once where the internet connection was completely down for more than just a few minutes. In fact, I was surprised that each day I was able to log on. At times the connection was much slower than others, but my netbook worked great!

Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted December 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 5, 2009 On my first transpacific cruise (2004), we lost internet and TV somewhere in the South Pacific for at least a full day. I remember it because Alastair (CD) and Frankie (ACD) read from a month old People magazine on their morning show to feed the news junkies onboard. Talk about funny...I was in the fitness area one morning watching them on the TV on my treadmill, and I was laughing out loud, and then, through my earphones, I heard everyone around me doing the same. I don't recall the same thing happening on my second transpacific cruise (2006), which followed basically the same route. Maybe a satellite was added or re-aimed.
