Dover to airport transfer

What would be the best and easiest way to get from Dover pier to airport, car service, taxi, public train or bus?

Does anyone know of a tour that would pick you up at pier and then drop you off at airport after the tour?

You'll do well by mentioning which of London's FIVE airports you're heading to (most likely LHR/Heathrow or LGW/Gatwick). To be honest, none of them are particularly convienient by train or bus from Dover.

As per the replies by others, Dover is badly served by public transportation to the airports. Whether you go by train or scheduled coach, you have to change in central London. For coach travel that means fighting London traffic into the centre & back out, for Heathrow it even means in to one London rail station & out from another.

Cruise lines are aware of this shortcoming and usually lay on transfer coaches direct to Gatwick (LGW) and Heathrow (LHR), but perhaps not other airports.

The other option is by private hire car. If you use a Dover-based taxi co. such as www.dovertaxis.com/ it is likely to be significantly cheaper than an airport-based co., and way way cheaper than quoted on the otherwise-useful London Toolkit link given by LHT28. Last month I was quoted £135 Dover to Heathrow, it would possibly be a little less to Gatwick, but when seeking a price quote number of passengers and approx no of cases.

So best to double-check the rate for your airport and compare it to the cost pp by ship's coach.

You'll not have time for a tour of London on the way to either airport. If you have at least 2 or preferably 3 hours to spare, you could call in to, say, Hever Castle near Gatwick or Windsor or Hampton Court near Heathrow. Obviously this would cost more, and the private hire rates are for a driver, not a guide.
