How can I "dump" my PVP?

I am not happy with the PVP that has been "assigned" to me. She does not return phone calls, or emails. The only time I hear from her is if I have been searching cruises logged in the the Carnival website. (Of course, I do not search, logged in, anymore.) Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I go about this? Thank you, in advance, for your help!

how sad- i suggest you go to the carnival web site and edit your profile.

Change your phone number to your area code and 555-1212

I am curious to what kind of stuff you are emailing--- is it questions you can get answered here??

Mine seems pretty sorry too. I booked our first cruise under my name but he sends the emails in my husband's name who has no qualms about cruising. And the few times we do talk he will try to give me a higher price than whats on the website. IDK if its me or what! I would like another PVP because mine does not seem to like cruising. I really liked the lady that actually helped me with my first cruise. She knew what rooms were what and had what in them I got her by calling the main cs#. They assigned me this other guy after we got back.

I booked my cruise through calling the toll free number. I didn't know that I was assigned a PVP. There had been this snooty lady that had called from Carnival a couple of times after I had been on the website. She kept asking for my DH and REFUSED to talk to me even after I told her that I was the one planning the cruise. Someone on here gave me the generic number for PVP's of 1-800-819-3902. It turned out that she was my assigned PVP so I of course asked to be changed. It was no problem and my new PVP has been very helpful even though he has gotten no credit for my cruise. Just call and ask for a new one until you get someone that you click with.

Yea Im not too happy with mine either. I ahve not found one that will return my Emails. I am still aiting for a quote for a cruise. The one I am have does not even know Carnival that well. I found that out when when she quizically asked me after I was giving a quick lesson and he new cabin catagory restructure, I think sheshe missed the memo:rolleyes: why am I so determined to use Carnival as I explained about value, room sizes and the fun she expalins that she only works with Princess, HAL, and Crystal.. she said she has heard about the clientel that frequents Carnival but she has very little bookings with them Great can I find them or what..

Sounds like you are talking about a Travel Agent, not a Carnival PVP.

For those who say their PVP is giving them a "higher rate", keep in mind that most of them give the total (even per person) after taxes, fees, etc....not just the base "per person" price that shows on the website before you follow your reservation through and get all that stuff tacked on at the end.

Mine told me before taxes and fees. That's y I questioned him.

Wonder if we were assigned the same one? I don't care for mine as well and had no idea I could ask for a change. We worked with a great Carnival rep last year when planning a family cruise and then had to unfortunately cancel. She was great, informative and responsive. When I called back this year to book our current cruise, she was no longer with the company and they assigned me this guy, with whom I just don't feel comfortable. He actually quoated me a rate that was higher than the rate I received from a TA. When I called him back about this, (and yes, the rates were equivalent re taxes and fees, etc), he claimed that I could not get that rate with the TA. Well we did. So I was really turned off by that. He keeps calling and emailing me and I've told him that we booked through a TA for our cruise since they were cheaper and I liked the customer service better. He continues to call me though.

It is, I am.

Excuse me for asking this, but until this thread I thought a PVP was part of an Travel agency. But based that comment I am finding out nore that they are Carnival CSRs? am I tracking on that?

They do work for Carnival. I think that they are a little more than "CSR'S", though.

can we give a name and extension on here

its against the terms of service to post names and agencies.

It is also against the terms of service to post your email address to give names of agents and agencies.

Advertising Guidelines Advertising Is Not Allowed On Cruise Critic

Cruise Critic has strict guidelines prohibiting blatant advertising, commercial sales and solicitation posts on all of our message boards.

Our Cruise Boards are meant to be a cruiser's exchange of advice and tips where cruisers can talk about their travels -- not a marketplace for advertising and selling services. There are thousands of cruise professionals online and if we didn't insist on a non-solicitation policy the cruise boards would be very quickly overrun with nothing but ads.

Cruise Critic defines advertising as an individual or company's attempt to generate business or other commercial enterprise, either directly or indirectly, by using our Cruise Board. Solicitation includes, but is not limited to, requests to be E-mailed, the posting of phone numbers for your business, and the referring to or posting of one's own Web site address.

There shall be no third-party recommendation of travel agencies on any forums within Cruise Critic. General discussions regarding the TYPE of AGENCY to be used to purchase a cruise will be allowed, as long as no recommendations for any source of purchase are posted.

Touting of your personal cruise agent or cruise line "personal cruise consultant" (or any other venue by which you purchase a cruise) is not allowed on our message boards. Postings that contain "tell them John sent you" will be removed without notice.

This means you should not ask about someone's travel agent, nor should you respond in kind. Offering to email someone your travel agent's name or info is also not allowed, nor is asking members to email you for the information.

Cruise Critic will remove violations of the "third-party recommendation" guideline without warning. Additional posts will result in permanent suspension of your posting privileges.

Use the 'contact us' button on the carnival website. Do not let them know your booking number. Explain in the body of the letter that you are currently booked and have XYZ as your PVP, and that you are unhappy. Explain why. This will serve two purposes. The PVP who is not doing her job will be reminded how difficult the economy is and that she'd better shape up, and you will get a new PVP. By not giving them the booking number, they will not forward the letter to your PVP before they've had a chance to read and respond. ( I'd like to think anyway)

They work for Carnival and they are "Personal Vacation Planners".

They are supposed to work like internal TAs, but they bug you all the time if you go on the website and surf while logged in.

I got tired of the calls and emails several times a week and now I use a TA.

She doesn't call or email me trying to sell me my next cruise.

No need to "dump" a PVP at all.

Just call the toll-free number and speak with whoever answers. Nobody is "assigned" a PVP.

If they want to reroute the call to the PVP in your profile, just say no thanks and continue on.

Anyone can help you.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO mytwokidsmom: I had the same problem. What I did was find a local travel agent and used them when planning vacations. Not sorry I did that. The only time I book through the cruise line is if I have points to redeem and only if that is the only way.

I've only spoken with my PVP to book cruises and then call in final payment. I'm going to chime in though and say he did something that I found a bit disconcerting just yesterday. We are sailing on the Legend in less than a month and have 3 cabins, so when I saw a personal email from him with the subject line, "URGENT! CALL ME IMMEDIATELY!!!" (yes, in all caps with multiple exclamation points) my heart skipped a beat, fearing that something was terribly wrong. I opened the email only to find out it was a generic sales pitch for future cruises. I think his choice of subject line combined with using his personal email displayed poor judgement under the circumstances.

I think I would certainly try the PVP again for something simple like a cruise out of the US and I would arrange my own airfare. Carnival has always been good about being visible at the airports for pickup-transfers.

I have to say though: It was a DREAM having a TA for the Inaugural cruise of the Dream out of Civitavecchia. She shopped for and set up our airfare; arranged a private pickup at the airport in Rome to take us to the hotel; chose a hotel for us that she had personally stayed at (super nice); and arranged tours in Rome for two of the three days we were there; then arranged private transportation from the hotel to the ship. We had a sheet for each item on the itenerary, and just handed it to the driver when he arrived.

Made for a worry free trip.

We took the Carnival bus from ship to Rome airport.

I would send him an email and request that he not use the word "urgent" in any correpodance unless there is a problem he is alerting you to.

I have called Carnival at least four or five times with my current booking and I get a different person each time. The PVP I got was never working when I would call, so it was no big deal for someone else to handle the call!!!! I got the service, so what if I got it from several different people!

I always wondered about PVP's. I've never really used one. I always book thru internet, do my own searches, and when I see a discount, use the form online to get the OB credit. With that said, is there any benifit to use them? I'm curious. if it is a benifit I may start using one. So far i've been very happy with the prices I get. I have a friend who does use a PVP and I've not seen any benifit. someone enlighten me

oh, and i too got the email from carnival with the URGENT! message. I responded and said I was already on one (as the email came while I was on my last cruise last week lol)

When I booked my cruise with my current PVP (can't say I like him one way or the other), he asked me if he could e-mail me with specials and offers. I said, "what's that about." He said if I gave him "permission" he'd be able to send me all kinds of e-mails--I told him "no thanks" and haven't heard a peep out of him at all (it's only been a month though).

So maybe you can contact your PVP and "opt out" of the spam-mail--sounds like they have some kind of procedure set up for that.

I would have crapped a duck if I got an e-mail like that too a few days from my departure.
