Extended balconies?

Hard to tell from deck plans but it appears several D5 cabins have "offset" balconies at the beginning and end of the humps. They're on just about every level (6-14); for example, 9190 and 9590; 9206 and 9606; 9250 and 9650, etc.

Hopefully, once enough people get onboard and may happen to stay in one of these, they can advise whether this is true or not and how much it may enlarge those particular balconies. Thanks in advance.

I am with you on this one. In Dec 08 we booked the Oasis when it was reasonable. We booked for this Feb and we booked a D5 on deck 12. My logic was we were getting nearly a D1 at a low price. At the time D1s were ridiculously high and D5 - D8 were all very close in price. At the time that was the highest category we could afford and the bonus was the drawing indicating the balcony would be a tad bigger.

 

Let's hope it pays off!! And the location looks good too.

So, Ken - are you saying you're actually booked in one of those cabins? Would love to know if the actual ship looks like the drawings. It would be a nice bonus to have a bigger (even if only marginal) balcony for the lower priced cabin.

Just off 12/12 sailing and had a D1 balcony 12196. Yes the balcony is true to size as appears on the deck plans. DH and I agree that it is not worth (to us) the additional price. You have much more room but you still only have a table and 2 chairs so lots of wasted space. HOWEVER, if they included a lounge chair (which there is sufficient space for), THAT would make it worth it. Not disappointed, just learned that we will book a standard balcony next time.

Thanks for the reply. Shame they don't include a lounger, especially since you said there is sufficient room for it. Then it would be almost like some of those sought after aft cabins on some of the ships. A case like yours would be helpful if, like we did last spring, we had the 'grown' kids come along - we got a standard balcony on NCL Spirit and they got an inside across the hall. Guess who ended up on the balcony with us :eek: Gets a little crowed that way, lol. There appears to be some D5's at the beginning and end of the humps that have angles. While you may not get the full benefit of the 80 sq ft with the D1, you do get to pay appx $200 less. At least I've still got 500+ days to figure out if that's a bargain or not.

We´ve been in 14250 (Aft Hump, D2) and yes, the balcony is larger than the regular ones but smaller than the D1 balconies. The downside of this cabin was the connecting door to the Owners Suite. There were only two chairs and a table on the balcony, no lounge chair.
