drunken lounger stealers

Im worrying after reading some of these forums. Please can someone assure me that Im not going to be doging drunken people through out the cruise? Nothing worse than listening to alot of loud obnoxious drunks. Also, my other worry is this "towel " issue. Do the cruise people monitor the loungers at all? If people are coming early to put a towel on a chair to get close to the pool and then going off for hours certainly doesnt seem fair to me

I have always been very helpful to the Carnival staff policing chair hogs. If I see blatant violations, i.e. towels or novels left unattended for more than 45 minutes I scoop them up and hand them in. I love watching the reactions when they come back 2 hours later and have the nerve to complain that someone stole their chair.

Nobody can assure you of that, because at times it might happen.

However you might go the whole cruise and not run into any of the loud

obnoxious drunks (or non drunks, that can be just as bad)

There is no need to worry about the CHOGS (Chair Hogs)

Do as others have mentioned. If after an extended time..

45minutes or an hour, turn in their good as lost and found.

On our last cruise in March the Triumph - there were 2 girls that left their stuff on 2 loungers and were no where to be seen for a long time.

So 2 girls moved their stuff aside and took the chairs - well someone must have told the other girls because all of a sudden they were there - an argument started and one of the chair hogs lifted the side of the lounger and flipped the girl off - an attendant came over but did nothing - worse yet as the 2 chair hogs took back the loungers people were applauding - I felt so bad for the 2 girls that had every right to take over those chairs.

I think the Triumph attendant should have stepped in but he just backed off and was no where to be seen.

Now I recall that one my DD first cruise (she was only about 10) that we got up from our lounges to use the ladies..... only to come back and find a "gentleman" in my chair. When I asked him to move, he refused saying there was "No Chair Saving Lady!" - funny, I know I wasn't gone that long! So you get all types I guess. It certainly did not bother me all that much other than seeking out another set of side by side lounges that were available.:D Oh, and explaining to a ten year old that some folks are more rude than others!

Don't worry about it, go and have a great cruise.

I don't think was re assuring for the OP

Best thing to do in that case, was for those "New" girls to say,

" Oh we didn't realize you were using these chairs, as they have been sitting empty for a long time."

the point would have been made, instead of causing an up roar, and being planted on the deck.

Just pick up and go to another area.

If it had been more than say 15 mins. and they came back, then that would be a different story.

Never the less, why fight over a chair. By the pool or not.

Life is to short and your Vacation even shorter!

Sorry I didn't mean to scare anyone - it was just very rude and just prepare that you will come across all types while on a cruise as with any other vacation - Just keep a relaxed attitude and if you come across people like this I would suggest that it is not worth your time to get upset and just don't let it ruin your vacation.

What else do you do on your vacation?

I'll never understand the things people worry about. Unless you never leave your house, you will run in to all kinds of people in all kinds of places, not just on a cruise ship. It's called life.

Seriously... !:)

Unbelievable. I have seen many postings about "Chair Hogs" I just want to make sure I understand this. My DW and I get up early, go out on deck, get breakfast and then find a great spot in the sun because we are one of the only people on deck. We lay in the sun and then at some point in the day we decide to go take a break from sunning to enjoy something else that the ship has to offer. We come back and because we were gone too long in your opinion, we should lose our chairs. That being said you had the same chance I did to get up and come up on deck but you chose to sleep in. Now I should lose my spot??? That drives me crazy. I totally understand and have seen chairs on the deck that have no one in them all day but you know what if they show up they should certainly find their stuff still there and not have you putting your hands on it. I can't believe that Carnival has caved in to the whining few that want to sleep in and still get a "good spot" on the deck.

Do you do the same thing at the mall? If you see a car parked in a parking space that you want and it has been there all day you have it towed because people are not sitting in the spot???

I agree that it is not worth a confrontation and it is a shame that people can't seem to have fun without ruining someone elses.

He and the rest of us are not talking about people who go off to have lunch in the Lido or back to the room for a bathroom break etc. Why should a seat go unused for a couple hours because someone decided to go for a nap, play a couple hours in the casino etc. I don't think I should have to get up early and go save a lounge chair I don't intend to use until a few hours down the line - I bet after saving the chair you went back to bed all happy that there will be a chair for you when so decide to go claim it. I am in complete agreement that anything over 45 minutes is fair game. Oh yeah, I would definitely have that car towed - wouldn't anybody (ha ha)

Actually YES Bob I'd move your items as it violates Carnival's Chair policy. You might want to read the rules on board before scalding members who do the right thing...

Just my .02

I wouldn't worry about any of these things before my cruise.

And there is never a lack of lounge chairs. It's just everyone can't be pool edge side. If you see a chair occupied by ONLY a undisturbed towel, MOVE IT, or ask an attendant to move it.

You have enough cruises in your sig that you should know that there are plenty of people who will come out at 7 am, throw their towells in a chair and then dissapear until after nooon sometime. Or maybe occupy a chair in prime location for a brief time and then dissapear for 3 hours. That is blatantly against the rules, and is grossly disrespectful of other passengers.

I don't generally havea problem, because the wife and I are early risers. 8am is a LATE morning of sleeping in for us. We are usually on deck by well before then actually. So, we usually don't have problem getting good chairs. But you know what? When we decide to go do something else for awhile, we pick up our stuff, and move along, so that other people can enjoy those spots. It's called being considerate. Something you apparently don't understand.

But go ahead, vacate your chair for 2 hours ... I'll be right there with the others turning your stuff in to the stewards and laughing when you return and get red-faced.

Ajagent,

Yes many of us have an issue with CHOGS. I don't care what time you got up to sit in your chair. If you get up and leave it for two hours to go do something else take your stuff with you so someone else can use it. If you come back find another chair. As for your mall reference if someone parks in a parking space all day its theirs, just like the chair you would have every right to it. If you leave the parking space do you put a chair in it to hold it for you when come back to the mall in two hours?
