emmas_mom Posted January 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2010 My husband and I are looking at Mediterranean Cruises on the Ocean Princess. We will be traveling with my parents who have never been on a cruise before. My mom can be claustrophobic at times, so they would like to get an obstructed oceanview room so they will have some natural light during the day (although we'll be at port during the day, so they won't really be in the room, but that is what they want). On the Ocean Princess the obstructed oceanview rooms are directly over the casino. Will that be loud? It is another $600 per person for a regular oceanview room, and we would rather spend that money on excursions. Thanks!
captainron Posted January 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2010 It's not as if there's a huge loud and rowdy party going on in the casino in the evenings. I have never encountered any wayward noise filtering from the casino on any Princess vessel whether it be the R babies or the Grand Class. Ciao for now!!! emmas_mom Posted January 14, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted January 14, 2010 I was thinking more about bells and whatnot from slot machines than gangs of rowdy gamblers. ;)
Mindy43 Posted January 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2010 I was thinking more about bells and whatnot from slot machines than gangs of rowdy gamblers. ;) You should not have a problem with the noise. From what we have noticed, not too many bells and whistles go off inside the casino - ha!
hightownCO Posted January 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2010 You certainly will not hear a lot of whoops and cheers from big winners! I wouldn't have a problem with this location at all. There are much worse places!
notentirelynormal Posted January 14, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Its also a very very small casino. Not like on the bigger ships.
CALMOM Posted January 14, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2010 You should not hear anything but if you do, save the $600 and buy a box of ear plugs for $2.99:D
kruisey Posted January 14, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2010 Does one hear noise in cabins below casino on the small ships?

bjs323x Posted January 15, 2010 #10 Share Posted January 15, 2010 We had a room over a casino years ago. While it wasn't completely horrible, we definiately heard the ringing bells of the slots for 7 days. The only time it stopped was when the casino was closed. It got to be a bit much and we have avoided those rooms ever since.
