Is a room over the Casino really loud?

My husband and I are looking at Mediterranean Cruises on the Ocean Princess. We will be traveling with my parents who have never been on a cruise before. My mom can be claustrophobic at times, so they would like to get an obstructed oceanview room so they will have some natural light during the day (although we'll be at port during the day, so they won't really be in the room, but that is what they want). On the Ocean Princess the obstructed oceanview rooms are directly over the casino. Will that be loud?

 

It is another $600 per person for a regular oceanview room, and we would rather spend that money on excursions.

It's not as if there's a huge loud and rowdy party going on in the casino in the evenings.

 

I have never encountered any wayward noise filtering from the casino on any Princess vessel whether it be the R babies or the Grand Class.

You should not have a problem with the noise. From what we have noticed, not too many bells and whistles go off inside the casino - ha!

You certainly will not hear a lot of whoops and cheers from big winners!

 

I wouldn't have a problem with this location at all. There are much worse places!

Its also a very very small casino. Not like on the bigger ships.

You should not hear anything but if you do, save the $600 and buy a box of ear plugs for $2.99:D

We had a room over a casino years ago. While it wasn't completely horrible, we definiately heard the ringing bells of the slots for 7 days. The only time it stopped was when the casino was closed. It got to be a bit much and we have avoided those rooms ever since.
