Cstan Posted January 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2010 Hi All, Ive crusied out of NYC with NCL quite a few times but usually leave at the end of May. Ive never had an issue getting on the private island or having terrible weather in NYC or the Bahamas. However having never cruised at the beginning of May im a little nervous. Can you share your experiences? Was the weather bad? Thanks! Christina

It may be rainy in NYC, but the Bahamas should have nice warm weather.

wbehlert@comcast.net Posted February 8, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Just back from Jan 31 Jewel. On the day before a scheduled stop at Great Stirrup Cay, Captain came on intercom to say weather was bad and the Jewel would not visit this port. Day at sea instead. Interestingly, we continued to cruise very slowly in the vicinity of the Bahamas, where the weather was quite nice and the ocean had only minor seas. Go Figure. Many disappointed cruisers wondered aloud if this was a ploy to gain more drink sales and casino revenues.

It can go either way. If you get sea sick, just make sure that you are prepared with medication. The rockin-an-rolling usually is only brief. I certainly wouldn't cancel a cruise because of this !:D

It was like being on a ride at Disney! Hoping for calm seas in May :)
MsTabbyKats Posted February 8, 2010 #9 Share Posted February 8, 2010 In early May in NYC...it can be very cool, it can be very warm....and anything in between; it can rain, it can be sunny...it won't snow and it won't be beach weather.

UandMe4Ever Posted February 16, 2010 #17 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Does anyone have pictures of a BA Cabin? Would like an idea of how its laid out, i.e. closet, bathroom, etc. Going on 10-10-10!! TIA...
shoesII Posted February 16, 2010 #18 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Does anyone know if there is a retractable roof over the courtyard pool area on the Jewel? NCL reservation agents and supervisers say no, yet on different sites where people have stayed in the ctyard rooms they say there is. Thank you
mjkacmom Posted February 16, 2010 #19 Share Posted February 16, 2010 We did this same exact week 3 years ago, for our anniversary (and Mother's Day), and it was great! We had light jackets on when we left NYC, and it was so neat feeling the air warm up as we headed south.
