Do what I do--Cash into the first slot machine, then only that money is used for gambling.

If we want $ for shore excursions we use the slots as an ATM, but we have already budgeted on how much we are using onshore.[/quote

Learn something new every day. Thanks.

but didn't use 75% of it! I even wanted to bring workout clothes, but didn't have room, so they had to be sacrificed. I probably wouldn't have used them either! :D Many people will say that's WAY TOO MUCH to pack, but I like the security of knowing I have what i just MIGHT need! Have a great cruise!

I'd consider the ear patches-Transderm Scop-if you are prone to motion sickness. They have to be prescribed by your doctor but they don't make you sleepy like dramamine and benadryl can. Each patch is good for up to 3 days. I've used them on every cruise and never had any problems.

I don't know about you, but I normally try to leave my ants and their diarrhea at home, lol! Otherwise, I think the list looks great! If I have room, I also have the mindset that 'I'd rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it"! ;)

This looks like a long list, but I think it's a good list. Many of these items are small. You may find that you don't need so many clothes (most of us do) but try this and next time you will have a better idea and you will hone your list over the years (we all do).

Just add the extension cord/power surger. You want to charge your phone before your trip home to the airport, and you may want it if the hair dryer or curling iron is in a difficult spot for you.

power strip is a must. need to charge battery in camera, i pod etc. only one outlet in our last cabin. just ask your room steward for a hair dyer, they have a few to share. even though your on vacation, take a roll of quarters and single load detergent. on a day at sea, run a quick load. they do have a laundromat on each floor. some safes are pin number, others use magnet stip. take an old gift card.

Each cabin on the Legend has a 1250 watt hair dryer.

Actually, we took the new Purex "3 in 1" and were very happy with them. Detergent is $2 or so and since you are paying $3 to wash and $3 to dry it pays to use them.

They are laundry detergent, softener, and static remover all in one strip.
You put it in at the wash and into the dryer with the clothes. Pack a few in a zip lock bag and they take up no room, either.
Looks good. I don't think men will be able to relate anyway- they bring a tooth brush and thats it. I didn't take an over the door shoe thingy but it was just me and my fiance- you have 2 other girls so you'll probably need it. I think it's smart that one person is bringing the hair dryer, etc. I don't think you'll need any more than 3 oz of shampoo or conditioner though- so you may want to leave the big bottles at home.

I don't understand how people only wear a few outfits on a cruise- I mean- do they spend all their time doing laundry or do they spend it in a bathing suit? If you're not a sunbather like me (wore my suit 2x on a 7 day and not ONCE on the cruise ship) then you'll need actual clothes- some people who comment about taking to much litterally live in their bathing suits on the cruise (there's nothing wrong with that if that's what one wants to do).

Happy Cruising!
I agree. While I haven't been I my 1st cruise yet (6 days to go!!!). I would at least bring one clean shirt for everyday. The fact that you are outside and its hot, you will sweat and I personally think its nasty to wear a shirt that you sweat in for more than just that day. JMHO...

Your list looks almost exactly like what I would pack. For ME, it's not too many clothes because I like to have options and don't generally re-wear things. I might, but I don't want to be forced to by lack of options. I certainly won't notice if other people are wearing the same thing but I notice what I am wearing and like to have lots of options. I don't mind packing more than I need because it lets me pick out what I want when I want it and that makes me happy. I COULD get away with packing a lot less I just wouldn't like it! Personal choice. Your list looks great to me. Maybe it's an age thing? We're about the same age. Hm.

You know I took most of this stuff too & if I didn't use it at least I had it. I would suggest if you are planning on doing laundry then take the Purell sheets like a previous poster suggested. And if you are going to do laundry then take less clothes. Personally, I'm on vacation I am NOT going to do laundry.

Also, on both my cruises I took an outfit per day & an outfit per night. I don't want to be wearing all the same clothes in all my pictures. It all packed in one bag & I didn't bring home clean clothes.

Take plenty of a good thick conditioner. You will need it. Also, take the bug spray wipes we used them on Cozumel both times. I have a small plastic first aid kit that I keep stocked & have always needed. Sudefed, Dramamine (you can get it from the purser's desk too) neosporin, band aids, pepto, alka seltzer advil...

Also, if you have a room with a window or balcony you won't need the nightlight. But do take a room deodorizer. Extra hangers take no room and really come in handy. I didn't notice Downy wrinkle releaser on your list.

Don't forget to take a grocery store customer card for the safe.

We also take one laptop & a few CD's so we can copy all of our friends pictures & my dh makes a copy for all of us to take home.

Take what you think you will need & live & learn or take it all next time like I do! :D

List looks good but I would add:

Copy of passport and Driver license

Pre-address labels, if you are sending out postcards

evening bag, wrap or shawl

thin beach towel, I like to bring my own, they others are too big to bring on shore trips for me

make copies of your documents to leave home with friends or family, including bank info incase you have to have some money put into an account.

take a few memory cards

Have a great time
Thanks for your nicer reply. I'm beginning to second guess myself. All 3 of us are first time cruisers and we are the safe than sorry type of girls. We will split the items up like one brings the hair dryer 1 brings this 1 brings that etc., except the things we are need!
I am a first time cruiser as well doing the western Caribbean trip end of May. I hear deet spray is a must. Your list looks similar to what I am packing... heck I've got 7 pairs of shoes to pack :) It is your cruise, don't worry about overpacking. It is better to have too much than not enough :) Have fun! Let me know how the trip goes (and if there is anything I can eliminate from my list!)
I think its ok to "overpack" as a first time cruiser. On the next cruise you will see what you really didnt need. While the list is extensive, most of the above items dont take up much space.
Not true.. I have cruised 9 times already and still overpack! I consider it a sickness lol

We have never had to fly though which make overpacking very easy. However, this July we will leave from Florida so I am SURE my packing will be a lot a less. :D

I copied into my work processor and adjusted for my needs. I have to say I love my over the door shoe holder, have cruised 5 times and I love having all my little stuff in those clear pockets. Yes I over pack but I like to have choices when it comes to clothes and I am also trying to squeeze in one more pair of shoes.

It's much simpler being a solo guy cruiser, I can get all the clothes I need into a carry on luggage wheeler, and my travel documents, glasses, binoculars, meds & snorkel fit in my beach bag. My luggage weighs 25 - 27 lbs, and fits easily into overhead airplane bins. As Carnival VIP, I get free laundry during the cruise, and I usually do self assist or VIP walkoff. My motto is to "keep packing simple."

Don't know if anyone mentioned this but on our Liberty 7 day they offered laundry 2 times. They give you a decent size bag and whatever you get in there is $15. They pick it up in the morning and return it that afternoon. It's perfect for undies, t-shirts, jammies, a few pairs of shorts and swimsuits, capris, etc.

It will really cut down on what I take next February, now that I know how convenient that is.

Plus don't know what airline you are flying but now that we have to stay under 50 lbs, it's really hard. I believe our suitcases weighed 48lbs. It's my husband, 14 yr old son and me. We took two large suitcases and a garment bag. And we all had clothes we didn't wear!!

Have fun!!

Some of those things I personally wouldn't pack. Not trying to criticize but you probably need to pack a little less. Body wash for example they have in the dispensers on the ship and it is okay-not the best but definitely tolerable for a week. Shampoo onboard is also ok if you aren't picky but critical to pack the conditioner. You will need it. Also remember the hairspray! You'll need that too.

I also needed benadryl for a bee sting my dd was allergic to. I didn't have it so I always pack it now so good choice in your medical bag. The ship dr said it would cost me a lot to be seen by the dr and to buy some in the general store onboard. A good lesson learned. But I would cut back on the other stuff like Pepto plus ginger pills or dramamine plus immodium, plus tylenol plus nyquil plus plus plus. Ok to take a couple pills to get you by if necessary but some of that stuff you can get at your first port stop if it was really needed.

You have fabreeze, lysol and a plug in air freshener. A little overkill? Usually the cabins smell okay and if it doesn't tell your steward to fix it and they will.

I brought the kitchen sink on my first cruise and now I don't take nearly as much but still take more than some people. I don't bring the over the door shoe holder unless I'm bringing my kids with me. Cabin can get really disorganized with 4 people in it.
