We are thinking of a Med cruise followed by a T/A. Barcelona to Barcelona to Miami. What happens on the turn around day between cruises in Barcelona. Do we exit the ship??--Do we go thru customs?? What is the procedure?? Thanks in advance. Jack

I'm not sure about customs in Barcelona - in the US you do but maybe not there as your prior port stops were probably EU as well. You can either stay on the ship or get off and tour - your choice and procedures will be explained to you on board - these vary from ship to ship and port to port even within Celebrity. If you have to change rooms you'll have to pack up beforehand but your room stewards will move your items for you if you wish. Hopefully you'll have the same cabin.

Turnarounds in Barcelona, like most European ports, are just like any other day in port.

No you don't clear customs/immigration or clear the ship, you just treat as you would in any other port, using your seapass card should you wish to go ashore. If you do stay onboard they usually leave one bar open for drinks etc.

What will surprise you is the speed in which they clear the ship and then start the reload, about one to one and a half hours.........Wilba

We did this in Amsterdam. We could get off whenever we wanted but were told that we could not reboard before the new passengers began boarding, about 11:00 AM.

It was like any other port day except no ship's excursions.

We did 3 b2b's in 2008 in Barcelona. You don't have to get off the ship. Your new seapass card will be left on your bed on the last evening...and thats it! If you do get off, they ask you not to be back until noon. We found that traffic getting back to the ship was very heavy as we did 3 short cruises (4 and 5 day) and there were lots of Spanish passengers about using the portbus and taxis, but as your second will be a TA, I don't think this will be so much of a problem. There are loads of choices of what to do in Bcn, but be aware you won't have much chance of getting a taxi if lots of people are disembarking. You can get the blue portbus to the Colom monument at the bottom of Las Ramblas for €2 (€3 return) and access the city from there. If you are getting pushed for time near the end of your day, a taxi from almost anywhere in the city back to the ship should be no more than €20.
