The Walmart runs a shuttle van for ship's employees and sometimes passengers can get a ride. However, there has been many reports of delays in getting a shuttle to return to the ships as the employees get rides first.

The vans are very well marked. You could ask

In Ketchikan you can also take a public bus to Walmart. Ask at the tourist info place on the pier and they will tell you when and where to catch the bus. It costs a dollar (half price for seniors).

My suggestion would be to ride the bus out to Totem Bight at the end of the line, skip the Walmart stop on the ride out, visit the totem poles, and then get off at Walmart when the bus stops there on the way back.

For the return to your ship, you can either take the free Walmart van (which parks right by the entrance to the store) or the next bus, whichever goes first.

The WalMart shuttle is Ketchikan is first come, first served. They don't take cruise ship employees over passangers. It's just whoever gets in line first. Personally I'd just grab a cab for the short ride out there.
