Pride Cruisers...Maryland State of Emergency!! LEAVE EARLY!!

MD has issued a State of Emergency...I know some true winter friends think that 50+ inches in 8 weeks isn't a big deal but Maryland is not used, budgeted or equipped for another 24+ inches.....Unlike the last storm this one will be a wet and heavy snow

I left on the Pride when the last storm hit on Dec 20th(7weeks ago) ---we left early and were at the Port by noon.....It took 3+ hours to park and get onboard.....we sat in the line just to park for more than an hour and we were one of the first 50 cars in line......the cars that are there now need to be plowed around as they depart and they also need to debark and clear off their cars...it is a mess!!!

FYI---the ship has no heating system in the rooms---they are VERY cold...bring sweatshirts!!!!

How can they operate out of Balt in the winter if they have not heating systems for cabins?

The AC recirculates ambient air temperature, made up of lights, equipment and passengers. This is the same way most large buildings are kept at 68 degrees. Both cruises out of New Orleans where when the outside air temps were in the 30-40 degree range at night. As long as you have power its comfortable. The hottest places are usually, the show lounge, casino, dining rooms and of course the piano bar when Richie isn't playing. :D

Going back quite a few years I remember the alcohol helps as well.

LMAO!!! I have to think back to those days where I wore just a sweatshirt and walked 3-4 blocks in the snow and ice to the bar. Amazing how I was about frozen to the core when I arrived but was just fine with the walk home 4-5 hours later in colder temps.

Wow! Here I sit in Los Angeles....we had a rainstorm today and have been having some pretty substantial rain for L.A.! And, we can't take it......you should hear the complaining in the office...."I'm wet", "I'm cold", "How am I going to drive home?", "When will this end?" and on and on.....It's amazing, we're such cowards when it comes to "real" weather!

Then, I go home and I see what you guys on the east coast are going through and I'm flabbergasted! My heart goes out to you; who have to report to work everyday and have to shovel your walkways and slip and slide on your roadways.

We certainly don't know how to drive in any inclement weather, at all! Of course our state is almost bankrupt; our city has a huge crime rate and an even higher unemployment rate but we got great weather!!!!

Cruising certainly sounds like the answer to all of this.....

I wish you sunny days ahead and smooth seas!

I don't know what's worse - trying to get your car out of the parking lot or get into the parking lot. A lot of people don't even have shovels in their car. When the plows come through the lot they will basically plow you in so you're going to have to shovel yourself out and that will take time so that the people won't be able to get into the lot. That happened to me once coming back from Florida - got to the airport and plowed in. Luckily I have a teloscoping handle shove so it got a work out.

I think it was 1982 when we had a big storm like the one coming and I used the kids sled to trek four blocks to the store. Came back with 3 cases of beer, figuring it would last until the plows came through or we dug the street out. The liquor store was the only thing open in the strip mall.

Well we got wine for the cruise and mom went back out and got more wine to sit out this storm LOL!

Mom called Carnival and asked if there was an update and they said no. I'm not sure if I called the right number or not. I just called the regular carnival reservations number. They said I would most likely hear something tomorrow or Sunday morning if there was a change in departure times.
