Swimming from Watersports Platform

Can you swim from the watersports platform? When we were last on the Windsurf, about a year ago, you could not. But one of the threads on this forum stated that you can, if conditions are calm. Are the rules different on the 3 ships? It would be nice to be able to take a dip from the platform.

You can only swim from the platform if the ship is anchored, the seas are calm and the local authorities approve.

I have been on five Windstar cruises, and it hasn't been allowed on any of them.

Was on Windsurf last summer Venice to Venice. We swam off the stern only in the Croatian ports. I believe the Italian stops forbid it. It was GREAT by the way. :cool:

We were on the Windsurf in January and we were was swimming from the platform. Great fun.

We were on the Windsurf Grand Prix cruise last May and were allowed to swim off of the platform. They even had a floating rubber "island" to swim out to. Very fun. Kayaks and sailboats are a blast, too.

 

In eight or nine Windstar cruises I think we have only been allowed to do this twice. I think the other time may have been in Greece.

We were able to do this in Costa Rica...it was GREAT!

On Wind Spirit St. Martin RT in January it was allowed at least one day. The ship had just recieved a new floating mat (it held up 5 people!) and several people we spoke with really enjoyed it. On another day we asked if we would be able to swim from the sports platform and it was not allowed because the seas were rough that day.
