we are going to nola in may and are debating on which hotel to stay in. we stayed at the pere marquette last year but want to stay at a different one this time. i'm pretty sure they are all close to the french quarter which is great since we walk everywhere. would appreciate any feedback about these hotels.

I would base the decision on rates. I find Marriott properties to be pretty consistent. The JW is the most upscale version of a Marriott. I would check trip-advisor reviews for each property you are interested in. These reviews tend to give an idea as to how well an individual hotel is doing in meeting guest needs.

Having stayed both places, I would agree that you base your decisions on rates. The two properties are literally right across Canal Street from one another. Great location whether you are going to the quarter, the casino, or the convention center area.
