sarahc78 Posted February 22, 2010 Author #26 Share Posted February 22, 2010 Don't blame you. Poison Ivy is no fun. Do you know about Vick's Vapor rub? Worked well in our family. I think I have tried everything BUT that. What exactly is it? The only difficult thing for me is the kids. I never know if when they were out fishing, riding bikes, playing, etc... if they accidentally ran into some poison ivy and have it on their clothes or shoes! Vicks Vaporub is an ointment that you can buy in most pharmacies. It is actually sold as a topical decongestant. When we were kids my mother used it in a vaporizer at night when we were congested. For poison ivy, apply it to itchy areas as needed. Be very careful where you apply it. Avoid the eyes and genital region. It provides relief from the pain, helps to prevent spreading, and the rash should clear up in a day or so, depending on severity. We've used it successfully for several years. Johnthed0g Posted February 22, 2010 #29 Share Posted February 22, 2010 Only thing is if the weather is bad it will be a "tender" port that gets missed out.
