And yet another question re: the beverage packages!!

I've done searches here but I still don't understand the beverage packages. And I've spent time reviewing the Celebrity website on this.

The wine package info makes no sense to me. Are the prices per day/per cruise (lol, doubt it) or ?? My wife drinks Pinot Grigio exclusively, during the day poolside and with dinner and at clubs afterwards. LOL, those who have cruised with us know this;) Is the wine package per drink or ????

Maybe I'm dumb but I can't figure this out.

And, with the liquor package, does this include drinks, i.e. a Martini in the Martini bar, made with, let's say, Grey Goose? Or is is just for those premium liguors "neat" or on the rocks??

I know this topic has been beat to death on these boards, sorry.

I will let you know after my trip on the 1st of March... I'm going under the impression (by what I was told by customer service at celebrity) that the Liquor packages are good for whatever you want at any Bar... including the Martini's at the Martini Bar. You are able to get a lesser Brand if you choose, but not a higher. We got the Premium Liquor for my wife and the Beer for me. As I have said before on other blogs, I have the conscious and premeditated intention of getting a Scotch or a Martini at night for myself with my wife's card, because a guy can only drink so much Beer.

Hi,

First Thanks for your question. We've sailed on Royal & recently on Carnival. Neither has a liquor or beer package only buckets of beer at a reduced price. 4 16oz beers for $21 + 15% service charge. You can purchase a wine package also at a reduced price. Which is still very overpriced.

Since we will be new to Celebrity. We will be sailing on the Mercury at the end of Nov., so I'm checking out these boards for more info. as to what we might expect that is different than Royal's policy.

Although it's not for us, our DS has friends who wants to cruise again ( got bitten after their first cruise ) & was looking for a cruise with some type of liquor/beer packages. Celebrity should work well for them.

Fom the website it says liquor packages starting from $51.50 per night

Frozen drink packages starting from $22.00 per night

Beer starting at $34.50 per night

Wine is quoted per package not per night at $114.00 so I can see the confusion. All of these packages include the 15% service charge.

Happy sailings.

Joyce & Of Course Harvey

we drink mostly wine and sparkling wine. So would be great to have a wine per day kind of package.

The wine packages are for bottles - and although not exclusively in the MDR, that's where you usually see them.

I like to drink the higher end liquor and drink a lot some nightzs but by my math I would have to drink 6 to 7 drinks a night, to break even. I would say I drink a mean of 4 to 5 a night, since I take days off being relativly sober. So this plan does not work for me. I thin k the only way it could work for people with a low to mid tolerance would be to "share" a package. So.... ill just pay per drink and come out about even. Even if I sharedx with future DW.

BTW, I wouldn't lose any sleep either;)

No, but this is why the packages are so expensive- they have to build in for people sharing. So the people who don't share their packages are subsidizing those who do.

I 'm pretty sure The OP nor I were suggesting outright sharing but thanks for chiming in you're the reason for posts 4 and 5.

Hey Sweet, you know they'll lose money on us!!! And not by sharing;;;;The Lovely Margo guards her Pinot Grigio with her life:D

I think I get the liquor package but wine package still unclear to me. I'm going back to the website and look again.

Cheezz, the last thing I wanted to do was to rekindle this debate of "sharing packages" from another thread. Beat that to death over there.

Hi that is exactly what we are doing, please can you let us know how you get on. I have the classic liquor and my husband a beer package. We are interested to know if mixers included or drinks are on the rocks. Also if cocktails are included. We intend to mix and match as I like the occassional beer and my husband likes a couple of JDs and cokes- have a great cruise and look forward to hearing from you

Wouldn't the cruiseline be rather chintzy charging extra for mix? I would bet they don't

The Classic package is good for mixed drinks/cocktails that normally cost up to $8 per serving. The premium package covers drinks/cocktails up to $11. This is what a few people have reported back.

The beverage pkgs are "new" to Celebrity,,,in terms of the pay one price drink all you can. As far as the wine pkgs go, they are the same as they have always been. I believe you can purchase these in 3 different levels 3 bottles, 5 bottles, or 7 bottles, from the wine list they offer. The wine pkg is not an all you can drink kind of pkg as the beer, liquor, and soda pkgs are. Depending on the length of your cruise, and amount you drink, that would dictate the size of wine pkg you would purchase.

As far as in stateroom bar set up goes....they supply you with a 1ltr bottle of your choice of spirit, as well as an ice bucket (full upon arrival) and up to six cans, bottles of mix, soda, tomatoe juice, orange juice etc,,,,after that you are required to purchase any additional mix you require. However, depending on your room steward/butler, they may throw in a few extra. I don;t know about how strong you mix a drink, but 6 cans of pop with 1ltr of liquor...wow that's a strong drink....lol

Thanks for the info on the stateroom set-up. I was just getting ready to ask the question when I read your post. Thanks again.

I considered the staeroom setup as well, but it says for in room consumption only... If I pay that much for a setup, I would prefer bring my own drink to the pool, casino or to dinner. But I guess thats another rule that could be broken so I better not.

Tell them to check Costa and the X1 package. Something like 13 dollars a day and all the wine/beer/sparkling water you want during lunch and dinner hours. House wine/Draft beer

Although I am sure it would be frowned upon to leave your room with the actual bottle of liquor, there is certainly nothing wrong with mixing yourself a drink and enjoying it by the pool or in the casino. Several people are milling about with drinks in their hand from various bars throughout the ship. The glasses are varied depending on what you are consuming, so no one would be any the wiser as to whether or not you mixed your drink yourself in your stateroom, or purchased your drink at the bar.

Hey there Luigi! I can see your confusion when looking on the Celebrity website. Unless you try to actually buy the wine package, you don't know what you are getting! However, I believe the other posters are correct in that you buy a certain number of bottles and the starting at $114.00 price is for the lowest number you can buy. They state that the lowest package is only a savings of 5% off regular price, so that's not much savings in my opinion. It's probably better to bring on your two bottles of wine they allow you and buy any extra by the glass. You cannot get any of the packages delivered to your room, unless it's a stateroom setup. I purchased the frozen drink package at $22/day and I really liked the convenience of not having to sign receipts and just throw away those melted drinks and get a fresh one, with no extra cost. You can get all of the packages in the MDR, specialty restaurants, bars and theatres. I have read that you can use the liquor packages in the martini bar up to the limit provided, i.e. $8 for classic and $11 for premium.

Still waiting on you to join us on our cruise!!

LOL KitKat, be carefull what u wish for!!!!;)

I've read a lot of posts on this and looked at the website info and the prices.

I hate to say this but I drink a lot and in doing the math I don't think it works even for a lush like me! During the day I like to have a couple of beers etc so none of the packages I think are worth it for me. Rather be able to order what I feel like at the time.

However, I agree with you that at $22 the frozen drink deal seems pretty good.

We'll be on the Equinox on the 29th and I'll have to do a lot of drinking so I can report back to you all!!:D

Hey Luigi. I forgot to answer your question about the liquor packages being "neat". You can get them however you want them, mixed or neat. You just cannot mix packages, i.e. get beer and wine on a liquor package, which I think is crazy. I think if you are going to pay the kind of money they are wanting for a premium liquor package, you should be able to get anything "below" that, or beer, wine or frozen drinks. Makes sense to me!!

I agree the only package that looks worth the price is the frozen drink package. It comes out to 3 drinks a day at $7.50 per drink. That I can handle. ;) The beer packages I think they said you have to drink 6 or 7?? I can't remember.

Have fun on your cruise!
