Pre-flight Arrival Time at LAX

We have a Wednesday, April 7, 7:00 AM Departure from LAX to YVR on Air Canada. How early do we need to arrive at the airport? We are traveling Business Class (If that makes a difference). I guess I'm hoping it is not three hours since it is an early flight.

Check-in and baggage drop cutoff is 60 mins prior to your flight. http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/airport/checkin.html As a business traveller, I loathe spending any more time than I already have to in an airport; if you were standing in line 15 - 20 mins (eg 05h45) before that, to account for anyone who might be in line ahead of you at exec check-in, that would be plenty of time.

 

You are flying out on an Embraer 190, which only has 93 seats, so there won't be a giant stampede at the gate -- boarding will take 20 minutes tops! AC's lounge (to which you are entitled access) is around gates 22 / 24. It's small, but it has had a makeover in the last year, so as far as lounges go, it is reasonably comfy. You should have plenty of time to negotiate security, have some tea and toast, and likely get halfway through the LA Times crossword before you need to mosey to your plane.

At that time of morning on that airlines 2 hours will be fine..and you will probably be an early arrival....

At LAX the TSA checkpoint lines can be long and somewhat confusing. Long and slow. Allow time for that for sure.

Thank you all. I didn't want to get there any earlier than necessary because from Vancouver we fly to Tokyo and then to Hong Kong. We were supposed to fly nonstop from Vancouver to Hong Kong, but that flight was cancelled - Bummer!. Any tips on transitioning the Tokyo airport???

Easy peasy transfer -- assuming that you are ticketed on Air Canada all the way, the last leg of your flight to HKG is a codeshare operated by ANA. AC and NH both operate out of the south wing of T1 at Narita. You won't need to do immigration in NRT -- upon arrival from your Vancouver flight, look for signs saying International Transit passengers. You'll need to submit to security screening, and then you will be back airside again. AC does not have a lounge at NRT, you have a choice of UA or NH. The ANA lounge is quite nice.

 

As well, as an arriving business class passenger, you are eligible for Concierge service -- look for the black-jacketed agent standing on the bridge upon your arrival at NRT from Vancouver. Any lingering questions may be directed to him / her.
