PAGA Posted February 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2010 We are getting ready to book our free balcony cabin, but I cannot locate any websites that clarify the maximum cash value of the 250,000 RCCL VISA points. We would like to try Oasis, but since Oasis is more expensive than the other cruises available on our travel dates I wanted to make sure the 250,000 points will cover the full expense. If you have a link to a website that clarifies this I'd appreciate it.

PAGA Posted February 27, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted February 27, 2010 Hi, Does this post answer your question? http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1028157&highlight=maximum+cash+value Yes, I think that answers my question...although it sure seems odd that the maximum value of the 125,000 point oceanview cabin and the 250,000 point balcony cabin are BOTH report to be $2,500. It sure seems that the balcony cabin max should be higher since it's a 125,000 point difference!
zekekelso Posted February 28, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Absolutely none of my business.... but if you happen to feel like sharing... How exactly does one accumulate 250,000 points? Is that just normal spending for people who have worked hard and make a lot of money??? Or do you, like, buy a house on your card?
X Posted February 28, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Max value is 2cents per point. The highest you can get on the 250k cert would be $3600, so you're not getting max value. If you want to try Oasis, I would suggest redeeming a 75k points certificate where you get free companion fare oceanview on a 7 night caribbean (max value of $1500). Just don't forget that points expire within 5 years. 7. 250,000 Royal Points (choice of one) • Free 7 night Caribbean or Mexican Riviera sailing for two (minimum available balcony stateroom excluding suites). Value of free cruise fare for 2 may not exceed twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500 USD value). • Free 7 night Alaska sailing for two (minimum available oceanview stateroom). Value of free cruise fare for 2 may not exceed twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500 USD value). • Free 9 to 12 night Caribbean sailing for two (minimum available oceanview stateroom). Value of free cruise fare for 2 may not exceed thirty-six hundred dollars ($3,600 USD value). • Free Companion Fare on a 12 night European sailing (minimum available oceanview stateroom). Value of free companion fare may not exceed twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500 USD value). X Posted February 28, 2010 #9 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Actually, it looks like the 125k cert would be a good value too. You can get a free 7 night on the Oasis for 2 (max value of $2500).

pscruzinboyz Posted February 28, 2010 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2010 OK I was having fun......we have 122000, and yes...the 99 cent store does play a part in that. I charge everything......but I also have auto debit so my charge card gets paid off monthly. I live within my means. But I also paid for my New Kitchen and New Car Down Payment on the RCCL Card. A few years back, I met people on ships that would take out 10 to 20 thousand dollars in cash advances on the ship, ( Casino ), take it home and put it right back on the card. RCCL got wise....because you got double points for every dollar on the ship. Now they charge 3 % so it is not that advantages. But I will take a free cruise sometime in the future with the points....but will wait until prices really go sky high! Mike
cruisenfever Posted February 28, 2010 #12 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Just be aware that if you want to earn your cruise credit(s) when using your RCI Visa points, you have to pay something towards your cruise fare or you will not earn any credit(s). I agree- why is the 25000 point level the same $$ value as the 125 point level-seems to me 2 free 7 day caribbean cruises would be your best bet with 250000 points -We have used 125000 points last year for a free 7 day and plan to use it agian this year
