Fat Tuesday in Key West

We will be in Key West on Fat Tuesday; arriving at 3PM and not leaving until midnight. We know about Fantasy Fest. Is there a Mardi Gras Celebration? Will Fat Tuesday be anything special or will be just be a normal evening in Key West?

Dont know about Mardi Gras, etc in KW. Fat Tuesdays is one of our favorite hangouts in KW and has the best seats to people watch on Duval St. eh bar sits 5-6 steps up and there are stools along the front looking right down onto the street.

Mardi Gras doesn't have quite the same effect it has in our sister city to the Northwest :-(, that being said, I suspect all bars will honor the day in some fashion...the biggest MardiGras party is usually at Bourbon Street (amazing that they know how to promote their link to NOLA)....Bourbon is a gay bar, but they welcome everyone...if you happened to see CNN on New Year's Eve, you may have seen Sushi being interviewed before she was lowered in the big shoe at midnight...if so, that was Bourbon Street she was hanging from!
