sanken Posted March 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2010 if you prepay before boarding, how does the waitstaff know that you did so.
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted March 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2010 The fact that you prepaid is on the passenger manifesto that the staff is given. During your cruise you will be given envelopes with vouchers to distribute on the last night.

Yes and you are free to add more to the envelopes in cash form if you want and were impressed with someone's service. (We did for our room attendant) I have read on here a while ago that it you go to the customer desk and remove the prepaid tips this is also passed along to the staff who has done this so they know! So..What you're saying is the staff (all the staff) already know you have tipped them before you even meet them...I prefer to tip in cash on the last night...I don't usually tip for service anywhere else before that service is given..but nice for some of you that want this, to have that choice ....JMHO of course...;):)
BoardwalkBabe Posted March 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 4, 2010 For us, it's just more convenient to prepay our gratuities so we don't have to worry about them at the end of the week. We've also been lucky with the service we've received on each cruise, so it's worked out well for us.

We opt for My Time Dining anyway so the question doesn't arise for us. I did not know one could have the gratuities removed..... as Gingerbint suggested. cb at sea Posted March 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 4, 2010 I don't think they know you've pre-paid until the end of the cruise...after all, they don't get it until their next paycheck... We prefer the cash method so they get their hard-earned tips immediately!
